Just make sure you avoid the Glaswegian kiss, ( they don't have much of a sense of humour, but don't tell them that!!)
The Christmas comet. Just in case anyone is not aware tomorrow night a comet "Wirtanen" will be the brightest comet of the year. Here in SW Spain our best view will be 10pm to midnight to the south not far from the Seven Sisters (Pleiades) near the star Aldebaran. Plenty of sky maps on the internet. Clear skies and a dark sky it will be visable with the human eye - binos or telescope even better. Its orbit is inside that of Jupiter so it is a nearby-friend. Happy star gazing
Right we got our 3 points Dave, now it is your turn. I hope it is not such a scramble over the line for you. Must go and find my glass and unwind.
one nil to the Canaries. Just 3 more and it might be a safe three points. O dear. 1-1. Get the firelighters out. We need a man on fire
Not so bad, Point away from home against middle of the table team. And the top 2 building a gap. Get passed Blackburn and then 2 home games. I'm getting more and more confident about pints at the Vic. Hasta manaña .
Morning all. Grey and damp, but not raining for the moment. Monthly dinner date today with the football fans, and I will happily talk about my team this time. It is good to be able to be with them after such a decent display.
I am suddenly having major trouble with this message board loading.... only loads half and takes half a minute for the rest to load each time..... any views or guidance much appreciated.... Toby?
Morning all. Dry and quite bright here, but not that warm. I went to get some water from my rainwater butts Saturday only to find them frozen. My Christmas season continues today with a mince pie and mulled wine gathering. Seems that the French quite like mince pies and you will now find jars of mincemeat in the supermarkets.
Mornin' all. Well too many clouds to see the christmas comet last night. Hopefully it will pay another visit in a few years time. In some ways it meant I didn't need to get the telescopes out and as it was chilly ..... always look on the bright side of life Enjoy
One of our young French visitors was introduced to the delights of Branston pickle and Piccalilli, she claimed to have liked them, not sure if she was just being polite. The French normally also shy away from English Mustard, they obviously think nothing could beat their Dijon.
I enjoyed some English mustard yesterday with my roast beef but Dijon is much more versatile especially adding to sauces and béchamel toppings. I actually really like the Dijon area, very foody.
Some years ago I visited a pub near Marlow that offered over 100 types of mustard from around the world. No shortage of choice. But I was bought up to see Dijon, French, German and English mustards to be accompaniments for different things. In the house here in Spain we have Dijon which I cook with (sadly lapin de moutarde is banned). And English for roast beef and mature cheddar. Delicious. Which reminds, me I need some duck breasts but need to keep it just between my step-daughter and I. Funny when you think the Spanish eat some revolting bits of animal I wouldn't touch, and yet my Spanish family won’t eat Donald (that’s duck, they’d eat Trump given half a chance ).
