Lardy's DVD review #1 Just managed to watch Blade Runner 2049 all the way through without falling asleep. This movie got good reviews from sci-fi buffs so I am told but I'm not having it. Ridley Scott's best two movies ever were Alien and the original Blade Runner Nothing else comes close after those. He has truly lost the plot on a grand scale. Gladiator and Hannibal were OK, but Hannibal had absolutely none of the tension of Silence of the Lambs.
The Sinner on BBC4 is quite good, although it looks so far a bit like a remake of the Hitchcock classic Marnie. Only seen 3 episodes out of 8 though.

During his famous court case, where he was accused of taking bungs with Peter Storrie at Portsmouth, Harry told the court that he could barely read or write. About 20 years ago, I was in William Hill in Park Lane one day. In those days I subscribed to Timeform, and I had it under my arm. The Park Lane shop was used by Hills' high rollers, and in walks Harry Redknapp. After a couple of minutes he starts chatting to me, and says that he owns a horse running that afternoon called Mellow Park [?}, ridden by Daryl Holland. This is the good bit... "can I have a read of your Timeform, I want to see if his rivals have run on the ground"

Ms Dooley's win was well deserved. The two best dancers had been semi-professional dancers previously, one of them had even been a judge on Dancing on Ice. Conspiracy theories about the BBC are all good fun, but their fault lay in the selection of trained dancers to compete against those who had never danced before.
Someone has Tweeted that BBC Sports Personality gets worse every year, and I concur. It used to be quality, presented by Des and Harry Carpenter. Now obsessed with niche sports because the BBC has lost all of its TV rights, and now presented by two unlikeable twats.
Alistair Cook should be on the shortlist. Geraint Thomas should win but Harry Kane will. Hopefully not Lewis Hamilton from Monaco.
