I know, the Great Man has spoken, you plebs need to do as you are told now. He’s right though. Actually John Major has said the same, but the Tories are trying to ignore that and focus just on Blair as he is .... well .... not popular with everyone
Let Blair talk, let the EU dicks keep putting the UK down, can see a big backlash coming, and if we do go down the 2nd vote way. They might just see, that the British spirit that kicked the Frogs and Nazi's arses throughout history is still there with a bigger majority. Then throw you traitors in prison and hang Blair and Corbyn, not going too far am I ?
Question for you. Just let us imagine for a minute, we have a second referendum the vote is simple remain or out. The result is 49% out and 51% remain where do we go from there. No doubt you will call it a democratic result. Just seen that there is advice flying around not to book holidays beyond the end of March due to possible no deal Brexit. In otherwords if the EU don't get there own way they want to shut the world down. Remember the mellienium bug. That was a load of crap as well. Morning by the way.
Good morning. Not sure a simple Remain v Leave is now the right question. We know a lot more now than in 2016. But in principle I’d say 51-49 would be Democratic result. As I would if it was 49-51. I thought the original 48-52 was democratic too, though I didn’t like the answer.
Perhaps it's time for the "Cunningham amendment"? (Google it). It was considered essential for the threat to the UK constitution posed by the Scottish referendum.
If we did such a thing I can see all the politicians debating for the next 10 years what the % should be.
I’m not completely sure, to be honest. It depends on state of play at the time. It won’t surprise you to hear I think Remain should be one option. I have a problem with the other simply being Leave as that’s one reason we got into this position, everyone votes for the Leave they fancy, even if they would hate some of the other versions. But I can also see limiting the Leave option say to May’s deal is j unfair to those who want something else. I actually think parliament should have a vote on the various options first to see which have real support. Then you’d put one of two of those to the people.
Set at 40%. Still rankles in Scotland. If that same amendment was applied to a General election, the UK would always have been in coalition! A very clever, though obvious, method of election rigging. So much for democracy. Effectively, if the EU applied the Cunningham amendment, then 40% of the electorate would need to vote for Brexit. The Brexiteers didn't come close.
Well parliament already voted on the remain or leave and voted massively to leave,so surely any vote should be just on the different leave options.
Question 1 Accept PM May's deal and leave. or Leave with no deal. If PM May's deal wins a majority that is then the final decision and will be implemented without a parliamentary vote. If Leave without a deal wins a majority then Question 2 on the ballot paper will be applicable. Question 2 Leave with no deal. or Remain in the EU The majority decision on Q2 will now be the final decision and will be implemented without a parliamentary vote. (note; The PM has power to unilaterally withdraw Article 50) MP's when voting for a 2nd referendum to agree to all of the above.
He is a grade A **** who should be hanged along with all his family for war crimes. Just the thought of that bastard wanting to stay in the corrupt EU should have had the most brainwashed dumbass remoaner changing their minds and do the right thing.
It's a good job we can all have a laugh amongst ourselves on here because all this crap "negotiating" is just like a re-run of that recent "Darkest hour" film - only a film I know, but about real events and options. That bastard Halifax pressured Churchill in 1940 to accept Mussilini negotiating an end of hostilities between the UK and Hitler on the basis that we'd give up our sovereignty. We'd acquiesce to German contol in exchange for not getting overun militarliy. He used every scare mongering tactic he could about what would happen if we didn't accept Hitler's terms. When asked what were Hitler's terms would be he just didn't know and said he was sure Mussilini would get us "the best possibe deal" - my ****ing arse. Churchill told him to **** off and made that impassioned speech to the House about fighting them on the beaches etc etc, and the rest is history. I realise this present mess isn't military conflict and it's difficult to draw comparisons on that basis, but in general we need similar resolution in the country and from its' representatives. We need to see off the self interested and punative "United States of Europe" and embark upon forging our own path however rocky that road will be in the short term. Nobody said it would be easy but all this cowering back to Juncker and Co is really pissing everyone off. It's actually pissing people off in greater numbers than it's frightening them about the "consequences" of a no deal scenario to the extent that if there were another referendum (and I for one don't believe there should be) the majority would now probably adopt the Churchillian mode and go it alone rather than wait for the Yanks to give us a helping hand.
