**** yeah, we got the result despite the ref trying his best to screw us over in the last 15 minutes!
We need some more wins in December from somewhere and it’s Sheffield United up next. Other teams around us play each other so are guaranteed to pick up points. It feels like a hollow victory to me. But it’s better than nothing. It’s what happens next that matters.
If we beat Sheffield United I’ll celebrate, not this, not in our current predicament thanks all the same.
Let’s just all keep sleep walking like zombies to League One and repeat the mantra that things are now better. Great idea.
Beat Sheffield United and I’m all over it, trust me. This win gives confidence and hope but not much more on its own. Let’s see what happens next.
A performance Mick would have been proud of and more needed if we are to stand any chance at all of surviving.Well done lads!
A dreadful day with a swirling bitterly cold wind mixed in with rain and sleet affected the play especially in the second half, Town dominated the first half without much joy in the Wigan box this is due to Roberts not being effective as a No 9, he doesn't get headers and doesn't hold the ball up when the ball is played up to him on the ground or get shots off, but he does run around a lot. The full backs are dreadful with Spence not at home on a number of occasions and Pennington having to get across the pitch to cover for him, several times I thought Knudsen had gone out for the day but other players baled him out, neither of these two will be a great loss if they go or get replaced. The crowd today were fantastic with great noise coming from the North Stand and Freddies goal kept everyone in high spirits and Portman Road was jumping on the way out, ok conditions didn't make for a skillful game but the 3 points were all that mattered and everyone knew that. A new beginning ? Possibly not but a match we had to win and we did, 3 points does matter and hopefully so will the confidence hopefully gained from today, Sheffield Utd will be a different proposition.
Hollow victory ? Sleep walking like zombies ? When is 3 points a hollow victory especially in our situation ? Our boys have everything today even the sub standard ones, if you thought that was sleep walking I don't know what game you were watching, were you watching ? Not a lot of skill I grant you but a battle from first minute to last.
It depends how we follow it up fieldmarshall. Being tight is what we’ve badly needed but we have to do the same against far tougher opposition and as you say we rode our luck on more than one occasion - better sides will undo us. One swallow doesn’t make a summer.
I thought I had already pointed that out, but you said it wouldn't any difference if we won and the fact that we did was a hollow vctory, so using your logic it would have been preferable if we had lost, possibly you're supporting the wrong team.
The victory today is a drop in the ocean. Not exactly rocket science. If we show any signs of real progress by beating QPR and getting some kind of result against either Sheffield United or Middlesbrough and overcome Millwall on New Years' Day and then Rotherham then I will be very happy about it.
