In the late 90s I worked for an alcoholic drinks company that had a very comprehensive list of products. The chap that looked after the maintenance of all the SKUs information (Palletisation, barcoding, Pricing etc) was indeed called Pete Schindler. Schindler’s lists seemed quite apt.
So on that note! Who had a name best suited to the job they do or did? Schindler’s Lists (Can’t name the company) Also at Secondary school I had a cookery teacher called Mrs Burns.
For anyone visiting Krakow, give Schindler's factory a miss, too many visitors and very little in there about Schindler himself. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
That's nothing I had a flat on Greatfield, Bransholme, Bilton Grange, Spring Cottage and Sutton Park.. I'm sure some bastard was following me around with a pin.
The guy from East Yorkshire council who was in charge of gritting the roads in the winter was called Mr Skidmore Honestly!!!
I went to Krakow in July and you are right, long queues and very little about Oscar Schindler himself. Ironically there is a company that manufactures elevators. It's called Schindlers Lifts. They are based in Switzerland. You couldn't make it up could you? Next time you are in a lift see who it is made by.
Shares in the company seem to go up and down most days although I think they've reached a floor at last
Reported today a chocolate spill in Germany https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/dec/12/chocolate-factory-leak-smothers-german-street-paving The manager? Mr Luckey
I found Schindlers Lifts amusing when I first noticed about 10 years ago. Apparently I was the last person I know to find out.
I use to go 'spying' in those gardens, seeing who could get closest to the window. I also visited the house legitimately when I was about 6 or 7 and briefly 'larked' with a lad who lived there, called Sebastian Horsley. He led an interesting life before he died of a heroin overdose. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebastian_Horsley He was the son of Nick Horsley, part of the Northern Dairies dynasty. Both parents were chronic alchies. I could never work out why his mum would drive up and down a lane on a sit down lawn mower. Years later, I read Sebastians autobiography and he explained that she had lost her licence through drink driving so would use the mower for trips to the shop to buy her drink.. Never met Stan Laurel there though, 11/12 years too late
