How to read the politics thread.

    1. Read posts.

    2. Arrive at Kiwi's posts and scroll like hell.

    3. Continue reading posts and wonder who would win if it was a fight.

Just watching the news, seems pretty firm. But it’s a messy process. She could win a vote of confidence amongst Tory MPs, if she doesn’t (or if she resigns without having a big enough vote in favour) then Tory MPs have to vote until only two candidates are left and then it goes to the party members. Could take weeks unless only one candidate comes forward or is left standing after the MPs have a go, like when May got picked.

    Here are the odds

Personally I don’t think enough Tory MPs trust Johnson for him to end up in the final two.

I've spoken to two Tory MPs through work this week. Both v anti Boris but he does have a good rump of support from the ERG.

I put £20 on Hunt a year ago when his odds were 22/1. Time to trade out I think.

Re the process, lots of chatter about it being sped up either with online voting or with a special conference. They tested online voting with Mayoral candidate selection earlier this year.

Recent weeks have taken their toll on my health. I am deeply sorry for my emotional outbursts and I am working to better manage my feelings. I ask for space and understanding so I can care for my family and get us through this difficult time.

Strasbourg shooting: Gunman at large after two killed and 11 injured

Two people have been killed and 11 others wounded in a shooting in the eastern French city of Strasbourg.
The gunman, known to security services, is on the run and is being hunted by police. He had been injured in an exchange of gunfire with a soldier, police said.
The shooting happened close to a Christmas market in one of the central squares, Place Kléber.
France's counter terrorism prosecutor has opened an investigation.
Confirming the death toll had risen to two, the French interior minister, Christophe Castaner, who is on his way to the city, called it a "serious public security incident".
Seven of the injured are said to be in a serious condition.
Police said the suspect was already known to the security services as a possible terrorist threat.

Security officials have cordoned off the area around the Christmas market and trams have been stopped, according to reports.
Residents in the Neudorf and Etoile park districts have been urged to stay indoors while the hunt for the gunman continues.
The motive for the attack is unclear. The Christmas market has been the target of threats from Islamist extremists in the past.

Judge orders Stormy Daniels to reimburse Trump's legal fees

Image caption President Donald Trump denies the allegations made by Stormy Daniels
A US judge has ordered porn actress Stormy Daniels to reimburse President Donald Trump's legal fees after her defamation case was dismissed.
Ms Daniels, who says she had sex with Mr Trump in 2006, sued him after he mocked her claim that a stranger had threatened her to keep quiet.
On Tuesday, a judge ordered her to pay over $293,052.33 (£232,000) - roughly 75% of Mr Trump's legal fees.
A lawyer for Mr Trump celebrated the ruling as a "total victory".
Mr Trump's lawyer Charles Harder had earlier requested that Ms Daniels be forced to pay almost $800,000 after the lawsuit was dismissed in October.
He said on Tuesday that the sum includes a $1,000 penalty for having filed a "meritless" case.
Los Angeles Judge S James Otero, in his ruling, declined to impose the "significant additional sanctions" requested by the US president's legal team on Ms Daniels.
"The court's order, along with the court's prior order dismissing Stormy Daniels' defamation case against the President, together constitute a total victory for the President, and a total defeat for Stormy Daniels in this case," Mr Harder said on Tuesday.
Ms Daniels' lawyer, Michael Avenatti, said in a tweet that the ruling "will never hold up on appeal".
