Why do we do so badly against Scottish teams when it actually matters? Apart from a victory against Dundee & Hibs in the Fairs Cup (many many years ago) I don't think we have beaten a Scottish team in any competition, outside of friendlies and the Whyte & MacKay Cup game against Hibs a few years ago. Unless I'm forgetting something?

Since Revie, I think there may have been two games, both against Rangers. Prior to then we met Scottish teams like Hibs, Kilmarnock, Celtic and Dundee in various European competitions, beating Hibs, Kilmarnock and Dundee over two legs. Have to say, these games were yonks ago, and the statistic of not beating Scottish teams in Europe appears to have occurred from the 1969/1970 season.

Don't get the "catholic" reference, but anyway, what your appearing to suggest is no different from most of the football leagues in Europe. In England, Man Utd usually win the league and have done so for years, with the odd exception to when Chelsea or very very occassionally Arsenal win it. The situation in Spain is no different, with Barca or Real Madrid always winning their leagues..... The fact is Rangers may be "crap" but history tells us that when they play Leeds in a major competitions, they beat us as do Celtic.
