Can't see past a Portsmouth win tonight. We usually seem to raise ourselves against better opposition, and I'm sure Portsmouth will go out to win, which may leave a few gaps for us to exploit, but I don't think we have the team to do that. I'll go for a surprise 1-0 win where we defend bravely and score an early winner, but sadly that prediction is pretty much up there with the one about a fat guy flying round the world with some reindeer. Deep down, a part of me thinks Bow has injected a dose of carelessness into the squad with the FA Cup surrender.
We are currently six points behind third placed Sunderland, who have a game in hand. I would be hugely surprised if Sunderland are not promoted outright this season. Having been up there on the opening day, most teams will brick their pants in front of 30,000 Mackems (like we did...) Portsmouth already have a very healthy cushion - 7 points on third place, and a ridiculous 13 points on us down in 7th place Looking at who else is in the Play Off slots, Luton could be anything, Peterborough have spent and are almost bound to stay up there, and Barnsley were a Championship side last season. That leaves us competing for sixth slot with Goliaths like Wycombe, Walsall and Accrington. If Bowyer can't finish a season above that lot, he really should go back to his carp lake.
I think you're being very unfair on somebody who has been a manager for barely 6 months. He has done a lot better than people with vastly more experience. The place is a mess, we should be grateful we are not looking downwards rather than upwards hovering around the play-offs.
Downwards ?? We are Charlton.....not Bromley Town ! Regardless of the current w anker owner, we should have certain standards and expectations. Championship minimum - instead we are a League One bottom feeder.
Of course we should have certain standards, BUT the expectation levels are on the floor(a bit like the sausage you picked up last week) with the current situation. Ffs, you'll be saying we should be beating Barcelona next.
He's threatening to. Fortunately he's recovering well from his life threatening removal of his appendix and is now grafting down that way. Otherwise I doubt that he would have gone.
