Good Morning Everyone Finally, after 58 games or 5,273 minutes of football, Leeds were finally awarded a penalty which Roofe calmly dispatched in the bottom left hand corner sending the keeper the wrong way. Both Hernandez and Roofe expected to take the spot kick, but Leeds' leading scorer was in no mood to let go of the ball. This led to one of the tweets of the year from Elland Road Journo Phil Hay! please log in to view this image Phil Hay@PhilHayYEP On the penalty, Bielsa says he was pleased that Hernandez and Roofe both wanted to take it given that the club hadn't had one since 200 BC and there was natural pressure to score it. Who should take our penalties, assuming we get another one? Toni Leistner, the defender who game the penalty away took to twitter on Sunday to give his opinion on the game 24 hours previously. "Hard to play against a tough team and the *** referee" For obvious reasons, Jansson had to respond to the tweet, and replied:- “You might be in prison if you use those words as a Leeds player… All the best big man, stay strong.” Thoughts? According to Bet365, Leeds are the firm favourites for promotion this season. The Whites are currently 4/6, whilst current pacemakers are evens. The Baggies are 13/8 followed closely by the Blades at 7/4. Then come Derby at 9/4 and Boro at 12/5. Leeds Under-18s inflicted a second defeat of the campaign to the Owls at Thorp Arch at the weekend. The Whites ran out 2-0 winners and remain the only side to take three points from Wednesday this season, completing the double Goals either side of the break from Charlie Cresswell and Niklas Haugland sealed victory for Leeds.
Morning all... On the penalty I was convinced we’d miss it, even more so when I discovered it was going to be Roofe and not Pablo but I’ve got to say, that was an awesome penalty he took, nothing was stopping that. It shows how important confidence and a few goals under your belt is.
Great win at the expense of QPR, but I think we need to be more creative and a big target man who Roofe can play off, Shackleton impressed me, we seem to have youngsters able to step up, a couple of signings and the future can be bright, hope Bielsa stays the distance with us.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a slightly sunny Bardsey I decided to predict the next six results for the 8 teams I think will be in the frame and it worked out like this Leeds 52pts Sheff u 51 Norwich WBA 50 Derby 48 Villa 48 Forest 45 v Boro 44 So according to me Villa are gaining speed Boro are flagging and Shef U are now second interesting to see how it pans out
I dunno if a big target man works with the football we play? Food for thought as we do whip some crosses in. Roofe is surprisingly good in the air saying that.
Morning all The QPR player will get off as the EFL hate us, but we expect it too. The big news today if true is that Radz has put contract talks on hold for the foreseeable future. This will/could effect both Roofe and Phillips who could leave us vulnerable if they get their heads turned by big wages elsewhere? I suspect that Radz learnt a lesson last season when he gave 4 year deals to players who didn't deserve it. We all know Roofe and Phillips deffo do deserve it and have arguably been our stand out performers so far this season. I suspect Radz is being guided by Bielsa and finding out which league we play in next season, so I suspect the players have been spoken to because Bielsa loves his players, so any crap headlines in the press can be ignored. The term Wunderkid gets used too much but when it comes to Scandinavia you can guarantee that Orta has a great network and recently there have been 3 brilliant young kids who are known as Wonderkid. Aapo Halme has been called that since he was 16 and Leeds snapped him the season before last. He was injured so never kicked a ball for the kids until this season and he's already a first team player. he kept Billy Sharpe in his pocket and on Saturday handles big Matt Smith too. The second wonderkid is Alfie Haaland's son and he has already said he wants to and dreams off scoring goals that take Leeds back into the Champions League. Red Bull Saltsburg have already signed him and he goes to Austria on January 1st on a 5-year deal. By the way he has been served up front by Cibicki this season and they did great together. Haaland strted his pro life with Molde' last season where he scored 14 goals but this season in 25 games he has scored 12 goals. He is a big unit too and I hope we get him at some stage. The 3rd wonderkid is another Leeds player found by Orta. He (Niklas Haugland) joined the club in the Summer and is only just 16 but we signed him on a 3-year deal in August. He is playing for the U18s and looks a class act with power, pace, skill and goals. he has spent time at Bayern Munich, Red Bull Saltsburg and AC Milan. Orta got him, he's ours and will be a huge player for us one day. He scored again at the weekend in the 2-0 win away at Wendies
morning all i'm off today unexpected but welcome after 13 hour day sunday.got to agree with infidel about a target man.crosses were going in on Saturday but we don't have any height up there.chances were there for the taking but no one is helping roofe out by making runs. a taller player could also help out defending corners much like becchio and wood did. good morning glorious leader are you busy this time of year ?.
Anyone seen the story about Kasper Schmeichels move from Leeds to liecester? He has told the media he was in Denmark after having his first season with Leeds and doing quite well, when a friend rang him to say he had been sold to the foxes. He rang the club countless times and in the end bates rang him to say he could stay if he wanted but would never play for the club again. What a cnut Bates is and yet another undisclosed fee
couple of weeks back i decided to renew my membership after saying i would not.well i have and have just booked a ticket in north stand for the Hull city game.Saturday afternoon at three now that makes a change a normal kick off.
Good morning all Great result & an awesome penalty, exciting to now see a bit of a gap between us & 3rd,Could be like when Norwich & us went up from league 1 (seems such a long time ago now) I'ts gonna be our year for promotion,i can feel it.Reasoning behind this i hear you all ask,Well were doing what all winners do,grinding out wins when not at your best, don't forget this is by all accounts a make shift side,in which the players that came in to cover have all stepped up to the plate and been great. Also when our first choice players are fit again (i am particularly looking forward to see what brown can do) we will more than likely see some of the fast free flowing football we saw earlier in the season. The future is certainly looking bright.
Just read we are interested in Darlow well I think he is not as good as BPF so that tells you everything really
Was getting worried as I read a report that WBA are preparing a £10m bid for Phillips, then I noticed them quoting the source as The Sun *phew*
Nothing to due with that Phillips rumour but... If a struggling PL club offered £20million for Roofe what should we do ? Have to admit I'd be inclined to take it as long as we used the money wisely.
The sun . Team 2nd (and promotion favourites) to sell one their best players to the team in 5th six points behind half way through the season in a promotion race. That's too stupid to even call it lazy journalism
Not a sane person no but we're talking football here so maybe a Southampton might be daft enough. Definitely not Cardiff or Huddersfield who are aware of his limitations. To be fair having thought about it I'd turn it down. Get promoted and then sell him similar to Newcastle have done with Gayle, it's something we would have to do with quite a few of the players which is very harsh isn't it ?
And that is the odd thing about football. If we get promoted it pretty much ends the Leeds careers for some of the players. That doesn't always work though, look at Fulham this season. Went up, spent 100 million on basically a new squad and are bottom. Still let's hope we get up to worry about that problem.
Just noticed our FA Cup tie at QPR is now being played on the Sunday with a 2pm KO. Seem to be because of the new overseas TV contract negotiated by the FA which means that matches are now spread out over the weekend with multiple KO times. If we progress it's something to watch out for, but on this occasion it gives us an extra day to prepare after the Forest game.
I’d listen to Bielsa, if he said no then I wouldn’t, the fear is Bamford is injury prone and anyone new would have to spend 2, 3, 4? Weeks getting used to Bielsas plan/style McCormack, who believed we’d have got the offer we did...
