Exactly the younger the generation the more Snowflake they are.

Matth is just a product of this generation imagine him going travelling by himself. He wouldn't last a day

Everyone is afraid of a shadow.

These are the ****s who will argue all day long about politics, but seem to be afraid of the world.

It can be if you bump into a killer.

I'd rather my lad didn't risk his life to try different kinds of road kill or to stay in **** hotels trying to make dodgy friends. These same countries can be visited in orthodox manners...hitching rides and risking anal sex isn't my idea of living.

And to let a daughter do it...even riskier

Yeah but talking about the whole concept of the hippy types packing bags thinking the world needs them to visit it. I suppose murders happen in cities all the time.

It's a natural reaction for a parent to worry about their children?

My daughter will be turning 14, next week. My heart drops when she says that she's travelling to Newcastle CIty centre for the day. I'm already dreading her trips to Magaluf, Ibiza etc. Can't imagine her backpacking through somewhere like Vietnam. I'd go with her, she would have no choice.

Life is risky, if it was all safe and predictable it would be boring. Okay there are some things you can do to minimise risk, but I’d hate to live a life where I was scared to do something because something once went wrong for somebody.

That poor lass got ****ing unlucky. Bumped into the wrong person in the wrong place at the wrong time. But there will be hundreds of thousands of other backpackers who will travel the world without issue.

As Saffy has said, it’s only natural that as a parent you worry about your kids. That never really goes away and even when they’re grown with families of their own, like my two, you still kind of watch over them.

The judgement of each parent can be different, but it’s trying to balance their natural inclination for freedom and independence with precautions for their own safety.

    Not easy!

The eternal conundrum for every parent. It starts from the moment they are born and like you say I imagine it never stops.

What’s that old adage about it never just rains ..... ?

My mum was on a week respite from caring for my dad with dementia, and she’s fallen and broken her hip. She’s currently in surgery now, I’ve just become the full time carer for my dad until we can sort something out.

This is the busiest time of the year for work for me too.
