We will see how smug he is when we get a proper Brexit. Let's see how he eats his cake then.

There is accountability to the shareholders
National Rail ... discussion over ?
Agree our public services prior to privatisation because we ran them very badly

Sovereign Borders will be in name only imo nothing will change

    Anything is achievable with reform

My opinions are based on the differences I see every month travelling so I consider myself to be qualified to comment

These are the images that will stick in the minds of the French when Macron gets kicked out. Rounding up school children like criminals.

I think your recycled Leave.eu tweets would be much more convincing in the original Russian.

No I’m insinuating that Leave.eu is pure propaganda, paid for by Russia.

Macron is in deep trouble, you don’t need evidence from this source to show that. I admit to getting it wrong, I was happy when he was elected as it meant that Le Pen wasn’t, but while his centrist, modernising agenda looked good to me, the French electoral system is as, if not more, ****ed than ours. He only had active support from 25% of the electorate, nowhere near enough for a radical agenda, which in hindsight is about turning France into something much more like the UK or US. And who can blame the French if they don’t want that, they prefer to have a decent cost and standard of living, have a proper balance between work and life, and be, well, French.

The violence is a real shame, though it’s extremists from both end of the horseshoe and vandal kids who are doing it, not the generality of protesters. I think Macron is stuffed, I just hope they don’t turn right after him.

So it is in France then? <doh> You are not as clever as you think.
I won't bother to comment about the leave.EU because like you, I don't know.
That incident happened in France and had nothing to do with Russia (unless in your mind it did :emoticon-0126-nerd:).
I'm surprised your initial post is more worried about 'so called Russian' propaganda than of the school children being treat like that? Oh well.

What is the context of that photo Ellers? What were the kids doing before they were rounded up? If they were protesting peacefully, it’s outrageous. If they were chucking rocks at the police, burning cars or looting shops, they are being taught a lesson. Unless you think under 18s should be free to riot, that those involved in the London mayhem of a couple of years ago were in the right.

Leave.eu has one purpose, to issue anti EU propaganda. So it will take a photo out of context and add a caption to suit its agenda. A certain percentage of those looking at it will believe it. That’s what propaganda is. It is funded by Arron Banks, whose father in law is a Kremlin official. It is under investigation by the National Crime Agency around the source of its funding. Banks has admitted to 4 meetings with Russian embassy officials before the referendum, in fact 11 took place. So it appears that I do know more than you about Leave.eu., because I could be arsed to find out. I know it confirms everything you believe, but that doesn’t make it right, or true.

Depends what they were doing. If they were rioting and vandalising stuff then im in favour of this policing. Our police are way too soft sometimes

mmm so basically we can agree with what someone said on here recently, that both sides of the argument are entrenched in their own camps.
The point is that school children shouldn't be treated like that? There are ways to deal with things and this is not a very good way. It has caused outrage throughout France and shows the World what the little Euro freak will do.
    However
I am surprised that I have posted a video regarding the treatment of children (guilty or not) and you chose to bang on about Russian Propaganda and Arron Banks. If it bothers you I can get a host of different media outlets which show the same video.

This is not from Russia or Arron Banks or maybe in your mind it is?

Would you be seriously against this treatment for when our dumb kids chuck fireworks at our fire engines and police or when you have those dumb ****ers who desecrate our war memorials.

Hell even the looters in london.

If they were just protesting peacefully then sure there should be outrage

Another Brexit conversation in the pub this afternoon (it can be done). We seem to have found an equilibrium whereby everybody knows just how far they can go without provoking a shouting match. Again, everybody (four Leavers and two Remainers) agreed that the whole thing is a giant ****-up, but my fellow Remainer surprised me by saying not just that he thought that Brexit must happen (fair enough), but that it should happen even if it turned to be a disastrous No-Deal fiasco. An odd view in my opinion.

Anyway, the good news is that Boris Johnson has said that he will take 'personal responsibility' if No-Deal happens and people wind up losing their jobs. That should be a big comfort to all those in Leave-voting areas that will be worst affected.

Well no we can’t agree that because this is about French internal politics, not Brexit, and use of propaganda.

That’s a better source. It also adds a bit of context, and I have to say that I am ambivalent about their treatment. Regrettable, undesirable, but if a large number of them were hooded and masked, and had incendiary devices and clubs, as the Sky story implies, understandable. Personally I don’t think their age is that relevant, their criminality is. I notice that none are wearing yellow jackets, and their alleged reason for protesting is that it will be more difficult to get into Uni in France in future.

But in general, if police are struggling to contain mass protests, with a minority of those involved intent on violence, we are going to see extreme policing measures. Which I don’t like, but prefer to criminal anarchy. I thought most Tories were in favour of strict law and order and protection of property. Or because it’s in France and it’s threatening to a French leader you don’t like, does that change the rules?

The problem being that not all of these children were throwing petrol bombs or whatever. Some of them look terrified and probably just caught up in it.
The flip side to your argument is what if it was your kid innocently being treated like a POW, how would you feel?
Just look at the outrage it has caused.... we can't all be wrong.
