I wouldn't let my lad do it.....id be telling him of all the pitfalls as they far outweigh the so called positives. There are billions of ways to enjoy your life..be happy...living like a ****ing tramp and eating road kill for 3 months before being found dead in the Outbacks isn't one of them. Oh well at least the parents can give it the whole 'she/he died doing what they love the most' to make themselves feel better.
We won’t have to worry about our kids travelling lads, nobody be able to leave the country due to everybody being dead from starvation next year.
That was my plan too! Didn't need to in the end thankfully although 1 occasionally mentions visiting his mate in Oz. So not out of the woods yet.
My eldest daughter did the travelling thing, but in a small group. My lad did the Aus thing as well, but again as part of a group. The worst thing about the poor girl who’s been killed, is that she’d done South America, and I’m sure her parents must have been extremely relieved when she moved on to NZ.
I went travelling for 8 months. Think I spoke to my parents about 3 times whilst away. Got into various problems but only needed their help (money) once. I was with a mate though and I suppose it I different for a girl, especially travelling alone
I Totally get your point . But honestly , in this case , she was in town when she was last seen , the bastard killed her and drove her to a remote area , or they drove to a remote area then he killed her . She was just seeing NewZeland , I would not want my Children to not see the world . BEFORE anyone jumps on me , no I don't have Children .
You don’t let your cats see the world. Let them out mate drop them off in Edinburgh and if they come home it’s meant to be.
Auckland is probably one of the safest cities in the world too. Like you say, especially after having travelled through South America. I'd like my daughter to travel and see the world (she's already travelled a fair bit with me and her mum) but no ****ing way would I let her travel alone.
We can’t stop them travelling if they want to. But it I’m already worrying about it. And I feel so desperately sad for that family at the minute.
Having done some of this travelling it's certainly something i would not want to deny my kids (when i have them). Certainly i will try to make sure they have a group as i wouldn't want them to do it individually
