You probably said that about Fulham, and I refuse to believe we'll be as bad as we were under Pellegrino in 4 weeks time though.

Keep smiling mate and respect your dedication, It's not been easy watching and supporting saints recently but it's football and have to take the bad times to appreciate the good.

I have not been to any away games recently but try to make a regular trip to st marys. Haven't seen them win in over a year now. Will be there again next Sunday, not expecting too much, but ever hopeful.

Agree with you about the booing. Now more than ever we need to get behind the squad. We are all in this together.

    Up the ****ing saints

The one on Armstrong I’ve seen given but would of been soft, the 2nd one Redmond has already played to the ball off and he’s get a boot on the back of the ankle , how the ref can’t see that stood 10 yards away is still a mystery, it’s literally the only thing he should of been concentrating on for those few seconds .

A trip to St Marys for you is an away game <laugh>

And thanks mate but the real dedication is the ones who turn up every week, I've only been to St Marys once this season and that was a freebie from someone on here.

Planning on a ST next season though, and as I've got four of the five on my membership so far I assume they would carry over to next season?

Armstrong definitely dived. I was completely mystified as to how Moss didn't book him! Redmond one was a pen IMO. But that doesn't change the fact we didn't test Cardiff enough. We had lots of possession and got into some decent areas but I don't remember their keeper making any save of note. I can't even remember the one shot we had on target. Lemina was very good and I thought Romeu had a decent game especially as he hasn't been involved for ages. We should definitely go with that midfield trio against Arsenal. We are desperately short up front with Ings and Long out. I think Long's return could be crucial for us. He's the sort of player who is perfect for Ralph's pressing game. He may be **** at scoring but pressing? He's great at that.

As a certified sandal wearer, I look at things this way. Over the last few seasons we have looked decent when we attack and press. The reason why we are the worst team at keeping a lead in the league is that the team are hopeless when we try to sit on a lead. The new manager seems to be out of the Pochettino mould and I think our previous excellent defensive record was less about a top keeper and more about defending as a unit. I can only hope that this works quickly mind.

only nailed on player next week is Hoedt (but only because he's the only CB Ralph hasn't seen yet)

I listened to the commentary on the radio and was intrigued by a comment Dave Merrington made about the dressing room and the reaction of the players. I think that the rest of the squad must be wanting to kill our defenders. As I said after the Man Utd game, there were signs of progress. I don't think we are a bad team albeit the front line could have a bit more bite. However, I think the defence are as worse as I have ever seen, Players like PEH and Redmond must be furious with the likes of Vestagaard. I cannot see how he can be picked again - ever. This is a player even Guardiola could not make decent. He needs to be binned. We would be mid-table is we had managed to put even a half-hearted attempt at defending. The recruitment of the likes of Vestergaard is emblematic of why Reed had to go. I cannot see what anyone ever saw in him and he make Carillo's signing a mark of genius. I am not sure who I would retain out of any of the defenders and the retention of Targett is looking equally ridiculous.

I pity the manager as I am unsure whether the current defence can actually ever be coached not to concede goals. We make mistakes week in and week out. These players are not going to be improved by any coaching and they need to be replaced in the January window. They seem more inept than the line up we had when we got relegated.

I think Ralph could turn Hoedt into a decent defender. He has the ability just needs to change his attitude.

I think he will have his work cut out. Stephens showed a lot of promise under Puel but he seems to have caught the same malady as everyone else!

We still have the same defence that didin`t concede one goal to Liverpool over 4 games not so long ago, and were unluckly to loose to Man U in the final.

The Armstrong one could easily have been given, there’s no question that the defender left his leg out behind him in a blatant attempt to trip Armstrong. If Armstrong hadn’t been a show pony about it the ref might have had a different perspective.

Agree with much of what you say but I really hope to never see Long in a saints shirt again, pressing is pointLess without the skill and vision to do something with it. It’s his and the teams general inability to finish off anything that has us in this mire, he is most def not the answer to our problems and I don’t want to see another manager waste 10 games finding that out. Get rid in January.

If Ralph didn’t know it at the start of the week he must now be aware that he has taken on the worst team in the league and has a massive job on his hands. We are beyond bad now, we are truly awful. Only the midfield has anything respectable about them.

Still believe we have the talent, so hopeful Ralph can roll back 2 years of awful results and negative psychology. Huge task ahead of him irrespective of whether we survive in the prem.

Yes we did not create enough chances, and another bonehead mistake cost us. But after one training session, Saints looked more determined and up for it in ages. Let's see what Ralph can do after a week of training.
I maybe overly optimistic, but I think we will stay up. I saw a lot of promise today. Come on you Saints

The way I see it. We have 22 games left and we currently have a mere 9 points. Now assuming we need 38 points we need another 29 points which is more than 1 a game. We need to win 9 of the games that are left and draw another two and we can loose the other 11. I see that as a really big ask

The biggest difference was the commitment and the work-rate. We were pressing hard and it was good at times.

With Yoshida, Bertrand, Cedric and Ings we'll be instantly better.

Anyone who was expecting a big difference after two days is an idiot.

RH will fix this shower, but probably not fully until two or three months from now.

But, we'll be fine in the end. So guys just chill the **** out.

Personally think 2-3 months is optimistic to fix a 2-3 year decline but I agree totally. This is the first manager since Koeman who I am willing to follow to the bottom and back out again. Good time to be a youth player because without spending big I would be pulling faces back from loan - reed and sims and getting stuck into the academy side for some energy and drive. Core of the The current first team need dispatching on a decent hiatus.

I have no doubt that we'll be a far better side under Hessenhootle. The only question is whether 'far better' is good enough; the position we're in is one from which clubs rarely recover...only 25% of the sides who have reached this point in the season with fewer than 10 points avoided relegation since the PL contracted to 20 teams. If we're to survive, we have to hope that he gets his ideas across in a hurry, because 2-3 months from now it will be irrelevant. We can look at the table and assume we're still well in the mix, but reality is that the line will not be 29 points, which is Burnley's current pace...a pace that we're off by enough that we're already a win adrift. We need points, and soon.
