    Great post Silver.
You are telling it how it is and a lot of people seem to want to see what they think is a better picture (sic).

I am going to say something which is wholly my opinion and not based on any factual evidence. I am also highlighting a word which replaces the original (which would be unethical to say).

I am convinced that Martin Brundle has real sympathy for your concerns. He is in a difficult position and is likely to become Sky's leading commentator. It is my belief that he is likely to be offered a staggering amount of money to do so but has some real concerns - which cannot be expressed publicly - about furthering the aims of a vile and unscrupulous man, hell bent on fathering a dynasty before he blinks his last blink. He is also very disillusioned with the BBC's handling of this in striking a deal with the maverick in the first place.

Brundle is his own person and he has said many a time that he enjoys commentary, and I think it would be wrong for us to say "FIGHT THE MACHINE BRUNDLE!!!!" he loves doing it, he cares not just about the money he will get, we cant deny a man his hapiness if he has to change channel, he also has bills to pay and uni fee's to pay etc...

All the best to Brundle wherever he goes, hope I get to see him one day and thank him for the 3 brilliant years with the BBC that he did.

Talking of Brundle, have any of you read his Autocar interview? Apparently, he's very candid about his feelings on the Sky deal. I couldn't find it online and have so far forgotten to pick up a magazine but I'm dying to know what he says.

channel 4 and 5 could easily run transparent ads at the top and bottom of the screen all the way through without ruining the action, which would be how I'd do it, as those parts of the screen are usually used by race graphics. so alternatley run an add followed by a graphic of positions and gap, and repeat, in fact I think that is an even better income stream than mid race ads.

As for Murdoch having enemies, I notice they've all shut up about him and I can't help wondering how many MPs have had their phones hacked, the information kept for when it was needed, and have now been quietly told what he knows about them that will ruin their careers, and as we all know these people think only of themselves. He will get away scot free because, even though everyone knows exactly where the buck should stop, it won't and he'll be allowed to continue as he always has, with parliament in his pocket.

Yes, I was thinking this all the time that the hacking scandal was in the headlines and going through Parliament etc. But then again, I suppose it's likely that some of them don't have any skeletons in cupboards. I think I heard the other day though, that James and Rupert have now been called to answer to a judge under oath; hope I wasn't dreaming that. :)

I really must remember to buy this week's Autocar and find out what Brundle has to say about the Sky deal.

Meh. Initially when I heard Sky were trying to buy the commercial rights to F1 I was mortified, but Bernie's just as manipulative as Murdoch, and it's CVC's relentless pursuit of money which straining the purse strings of the teams and pushing the circus out into the oil rich Arab states, continually threatening races like Spa. The European season only makes up 45% of the calendar these days, Bahrain being chosen ahead of Istanbul is a clear sign of where we're going. Belgium will end up making way for Qatar or something similar.

Maybe Sky will be worse, but there's little scope for it in my opinion, and everyone else's judging by the amount of complaints people make about how the sport is being covered.

Back to TV for a minute. Where is this £600 a year coming from? You can get Sky Sports on BT for about £20 a month, unless they've added a few months to the calendar that's nowhere near £600.

Hehe I don't think they'd get Ortiz but Suzi Perry has a good chance, and that other one who temps for the BBC now and did the bikes. No way is Sky good for F1 and as for watching F1 in a crowded pub, I don't think so.

I know I shouldn't have, but Ortis calling Oscar Pistorius "the fastest man on no legs" did make me laugh. Still, anyone's better than Tony Jardine.

i've got a horrible feeling that i'm going to have to get sky. Knowing murdoch, he will put it on sky sports 3 or 4, which aren't available via Virgin or BT. And my laptop is beginning to die, so i doubt i'll be able to stream races. Despite being an evil bastard, Murdoch sure is a clever man.

Also, about sky. A good friend of mine works for sky, and is a casual f1 viewer (not an f1 nut like us), and i asked him what he thought of them obtaining the f1. He (and his colleagues) couldn't understand why sky had bothered. In his opinion, what sky are likely to do is do a half arsed job for a couple of years, and then sell the rights. he said that he can't see them making a large profit from it either. Granted, he only works for them at a cardiff office, not high up in the corporation, but if sky employees don't know why they have the f1, and don't really want it, you have to wonder why make a bid for it

This is like a lamb saying he's got a horrible feeling he's about to be slaughtered, or a Jew announcing that he's got a horrible feeling getting onto this train will take him to his death.

But you don't have to get on Murdoch's (gravy) train Cowboy! Take the short-term hit. You even say, "Murdoch sure is a clever man"! Don't be cajoled; don't let him force you to become a hypocrite!

I love F1, have followed it since James Hunt won the title, but cut off my nose to spite my face I will, Murdoch and his scum sucking empire will not have my money, I'd rather stream illegally or even not watch at all, than give him a penny. And yes I bet the have 'dirt' on plenty of people who have now been told to shut up or the info will be released.

There's a bit in 'Die Another Day'. Elliot Carver (Murdoch) who say's tell the president to approve the bill or they will release the tape with him and the cheerleader (i think), he then says and once he's signed it, release the tape anyway, makes you wonder.

    Hi McBrianav.
Well, it seems your standpoint is very similar to mine.
When the deal was announced, I cancelled my Sky subscription as soon as I could (nothing to do with not affording it), which turned out to be the next day. I have vowed this despicable and exploitative dingo, who runs rings around our over-tolerant society, will never get another penny of mine as long as I live. I cancelled it solely as a direct result of the F1 deal which I think is utterly outrageous. The F1 public and the British TV Licence paying public are being ripped off in the most scandalous manner.

As for releasing what he may know about exalted positions in the establishment: I think it more likely that Murdoch will retain any such evidence as a permanently available weapon. This man - together with all those who are in cahoots with him - has demonstrated a lack of respect to his host country and its long-suffering, hoodwinked people. People should resist being tempted to reward his efforts, no matter how much it hurts! - Only in this way can his monopolising campaign be made to fail.

    BRING HIM DOWN!

The Sky sports package costs £40.00 per month + you have to have the Sky phone line which is £12.25 per month so 52.25 x 12 = £627.00 per year + a £25.00 set up fee.

There is no Virgin cable where I live and the arial reception rules out BT, and anyway paying BT is just paying to watch freeview and then you have to pay for the add ons.
