I remember falling out with loads on here about Klich as an example. I can safely say that what we paid for Klich, Saiz, Alioski and Grot will be nothing to what they are worth now. Bielsa refused to have too many in his retain list so a few were loaned out. Ekuban waste of money, Felix same, Cibicki will get at least what we paid for him. Bhouy wtf was that about, but the biggest stuff was the kids he snapped up. Anita is playing well now, LDB also doing well so we will get our cash back on them
Doc, saved me the reply to Ristac. Every manager, even the 'old style' successful ones have poor signings. It can be for a variety of reasons, unable to settle in a club or city, missing family, jumping too early (think Saha at the scum and possibly Grot here). Also, how many **** Leeds signings have moved on and been promoted with clubs joined and played in the premier league.
How much of ortas dross has been shipped out and how many of his loans need sending back.orta has signed some right crap.
Sense of perspective needed from both sides Orta has signed some crap, and some talent. It’s always a hit and miss process. But often the hit and miss is about how the player fits in to a manager’s style and how successful the team is. sol bamba... told he was surplus by monk,is one of cardiff’s better players last year. May not be the best example as i think he had some ‘issues’ while he was here but its not an uncommon thing to have players look terrible for one club and good for another. Did orta sign quality for us,or are all our players just looking good because a good manager has them playing to a system? Maybe a bit of both. Orta was a disaster at ‘Boro, maybe had bielsa gone to Boro he’d have made those signings look good. It’s hard to tell to be honest. I think orta’s contribution to the first team has been so-so in terms of unearthing foreign talent. Jansson was already here, doc... klich and Saiz have been the winners (though Saiz had been on Leeds radar a year earlier I believe), alioski has held a first team place though he divides opinion. In terms of u23s? Well that’s where he went all ‘kid in a sweety shop’. Will it prove successful... well there’s definitely some promising signs. Bit early to be putting $ signs over all of them, and the break through’s have mainly been the locals. The best thing orta has done at Leeds? Getting bielsa. And he had to give up some influence himself to do that. For that alone he gets a thumbs up for me, as it cancels out any amount of fcuk ups before. (Like the other two managers he had a say in)
you missed my point i was replying to someone else.there is a huge list of failed signings on ridicoulus long term contracts.you can't just forget them it's why the club has no money for some quality signings and had to sell ronnie V and get the 49rs in.Rads is a tight arse and a lot of his money is on paper . if he shows some serious intent in January i will be impressed until then.
Hey Milky with regard to Boro check out the players he bought and check out those same players in years 2 and 3 where you will find many turned into gems. Remember a couple of them ripping us apart last season, and been sold for multi millions.
i don't but pontus was already here and saiz was being looked at prior to orta.pablo was a monk tap up from his swansea days.Alioski is slow but a good worker but not much else.the west brom kid has done nothing.roofe was here and has done his own improving through hard work.the team of u23s orta signed have yet to make an impact besides halme the rest i await to see.quite a few of those have had to be shipped out or have run off.sacko was a disaster and jap bremner an absolute joke.forshaw everyone knew about so not a find, there is no decent goalie .bielsa has done well with phillips giving him a set job it keeps him focused.if orta has signed some great u23s where are they ?.
https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport...8-middlesbrough-signings-victor-orta-13037084 Some of these guys may have gone on to success fella, can’t say I followed them. The only guy I recall ripping us apart would be traore, but think he came from villa. Hardly a cheap foreign gem. I agree that sometimes you have to look at the longer term picture re signings though.
