That's right. It's merely my opinion, expressed on a public debating site that encourages people to express their opinions on football and footballers I bet your friends used to call you lightening at school. Am I right?
The entire Fabregas saga over the past two years hasn't been very positive for my beloved club IMHO. Cesc showed us some of his great skills but just not enough to get us into the winner's circle, the way he is doing with Barelona. He may not have intended it but he didn't give us his all and certainly not enough considering he was our captain. The armband may have been worn with simmering pride but the position on the pitch which it conferred was not evident by his quiet composure shall we say. Cesc was not the right man for the captaincy. That was Arsene's doing, presumably to encourage him to stay, just as he awarded it to Nasri for some friendlies. But he accepted it so he should have risen to the occasion when the club needed him. Cesc's heart had not been with us nor on the job. Even before the moment they dressed him up like a Barcelona boy at the WC his heart was headed in one direction. If Arsene had released him before the WC he would have walked away quite a contented soul. I'm not saying he should not have had a wish to return to the club that was his first home but I believe he should have done more by us since we largely made him the footballer that he is today and because of the position that was conferred on him. His current level of performance seems extraordinarily energized to an extent that I would assume that like his attendance at the Spanish Grand Prix, his heart wasn't with us anymore. On the basis of the level and sporadic quality of his performance over the past two years, it would have been much better to have let him go and engaged someone else instead. There may be only one Cesc Fabregas but there are other players out there who would have helped make us a better, more well-equipped and closer-knit side ready to work for trophies and able to rise to the occasion when under the most extreme of challenges.
What are some of you on ? How did we get robbed ? Did we not steal him in the first place from Barca ? Any money we got for him was a bonus in my view. I have no problem with Barca and some of you need to grow up a bit.
We didn't steal him from Barca Mr Head. Well, as far as I can make out anyway. I was under the impression he was largely ignored and we gave him an opportunity to grow and improve his skills. I do think though that Barca got him cheap but then again we try to get other players cheaply anyway........ But yeah, they got him cheap My main moan is that he didn't do enough for us, as player and as captain, unlike Thierry Henry or Patrick Vierra.
Its not like we kidnapped him you know . He and his dad both agreed that it would be good for him to go to us.
Barcelona Vice-presdient has said that they got a "real steal" from the purchase of Fabregas. He thinks Fabregas is worth at least £60m Euros but Arsenal let him go for £35m. The fact that Fabregas wanted to go is NO excuse. Look at how Ferguson/Man United got £80million from Real Madrid even though Ronaldo had been agitating for a move. Arteta at £10 million is no fabregas and even at that price he is not a bargain. What do fans think?
Well Mr Smith I think the vast majority of us are all agreed that Fab went for too little. Sounds like the bad management of negotiations on our part. If Micky is sidelined a lot then the £10m would seem a tad steep but if he were to play well, galvanise the team and stay fit in the process, then he would have been very worthwhile. I see you are relatively new here so a big welcome to the Arsenal Forum
Modric value is high because he has a long contract at Spurs to be bought out. I think Arsenal should of sold Fabregas a year earlier. It was obvious his heart was not in it last season and to make it worse he was the Captain.
Fabregas actually behaved impeccably. He's mentioned his love for the Arsenal numerous times and never said anything disrespectful or acted poorly. I will always be a big fan of The Spaniard. He'll be the best midfielder in World Football within 3-4 years.
My opinion is backed up by the fact that Fab chose to be at the Spanish Grand Prix, rather than with his team mates, manager and fans, at Fulham, for the last game of your season. I'm not having a pop at you or your fellow Gooners. In fact, quite the opposite - I'm expressing my sympathy (and empathy, what with the outrageous tapping-up of Modric by Chelsea that we have suffered). I understand your upset and pain, believe me. My message is simply to reserve your worship for players who actually see their future at your club. Do I deserve a savaging for that?
Thank you, goonercym Personally, I think you are going to be okay this season. You don't seem like a squad that is going to be tormented by the 8-2 drubbing you received by United. I think it will motivate your boys to work harder and to prove their worth. I fully expect the return match to be a completely different affair.
Just to let you know i'm still tormented by the 8-2.I can't wait until Saturday to hopefully get it out of my system
I know what you mean. We haven't exactly covered ourselves in glory, yet, either. The way to remain positive is to rest in the certain knowledge that no team is going to want to face you after a beating like that. Both our teams are far too good to not come out fighting and prove oursleves.
