Having a quick skim of that report there's an awful lot of words used to basically say nothing that we don't know already, I think anyone of us could have said that as we all know that there would be objections from stakeholders, local residents, users of the scrubs etc. I see they didn't bother to interview anyone from the club to find out exactly what the plan may be and I'm not sure that we're looking at a 30k stadium anyway, plus Imperial College are not to my knowledge the landlords of QPR at Loftus Road, Harlington Yes.....so much for research...... I'm sure there is much going on behind the scenes that will put a lot of these concerns to rest and it would appear that the area needs considerable investment so unless these local are going to cough up millions the only viable options is outside investment......
Seems a very one-sided report. The list of people interviewed tells you all you need to know about hearing our side of the proposed use of the site.
Regardless of how bias and NIMBY-driven this report is it does show that we would be up against yet another well organised pressure group which, as we have seen from the training ground fiasco, could block progress for years to come. That's on top of the fact that the council clearly wants to do nothing to help us out despite the vague claims of wanting to keep the club in the borough. There's no point in wasting time and money on such an option IMO.
And lots of space in Melbourne - we have a habit of building a new stadium every few years. The tennis centre will be finished in time for the Open in Jan, perhaps Hoops Down Under should be considered - I have tha t-shirt already
Time for a re-think on a stadium move, with the training ground we had a supportive council and just a few hundred objectors, this is much different we have an un-supportive council and tens of thousands of local objectors, plus the hospital needing more space for parking, this move is dead in the water.
