Besides CITY 4 others have lost 4 [ and Swansea currently on 3 along with Ipswich ] .. they are QPR, Wigan,Sheff Wed and PNE all currently within 4 pts of CITY !
so the reality is we are not the rustiest nail in the box!
Norwich won 6 on the trot but City on 4 Wins is accompanied by no less than just 3 other teams doing the same including Norwich SHEFF UTD twice and Brum … Leeds are on 3 !
So really if we were to mish and mash our results put a couple of the 4 wins between the 4 losses we would still be on 26 pts but without the stress of 4 x Lost !

    won 7 drawn 5 lost 8 imagine = L W D D L W L W D L W L D W L L W L D W …!

Come on JGF2 - back to reality pal. You can spin "sequences" any way you want, but if Preston, Brentford, Wednesday and Wigan hadn't had such a **** runs recently, you'd be looking over your shoulders at Rotherham and rest of the drop candidates.

Being good in parts might save your season but it won't make it for you. It looks like your management (owner too?) is trying to make something happen out of hope rather than belief. After your decent start, you've not gained any momentum and are in fact recreating the pattern of your previous couple of seasons - only this time it's happened earlier and that must be worrying for you.

We're struggling up here in this rarified atmosphere, but belief has got the upper hand over just the hope that was evident early season. That may or may not stem from our management team, but lessons have been learned this past dozen games or so playing on a different planet skillwise. We're not good at it but we're learning.

Have yours over there learned anything because they should having now had a few year's Championship experience under your belts. Difficult division with some well funded clubs in which to operate as we found ourselves, but your club should know what it takes by now.

Probably - and you don't need capital letters to make your point - but how does a "what if" scenario help your club get going again?

If other teams hadn’t lost games we would be bottom of the league - is that what you are saying OS?
Yep. I agree. Phew - thank goodness some other teams have lost some games. We are very lucky.

I was gonna say the same, like IF we were to win all our games IF all the others lose, we would be top... Was a pointless statement if you ask me!! But he is a Cardiff fan, says it all!! <laugh><laugh><laugh>

But at least he understands that after all the quotes and hype coming from our lot we still don't look as if we even want to get it right. Actions and not just words get the job done and until the brass down at Ashton Gate understand that if you want to be somewhere you actually need to move, and I think that's where our future is being shot down.

I suppose so in the longer run R&W, yes. I did not imply the bottom of the league right now due to your earlier success and points you earned, but you certainly would have been in a worse position tablewise than you are.

Of course all teams have a bad patch and all I'm saying it's good job those 4 teams I mentioned have had one as well.

The point is what's got to be done to halt the current hit and miss results because sure as eggs, the others currently below you aren't going to stand still.

Not looking for an argument - just a very brief visit to my old mates...........<laugh>

You can shout me down all you like. Don't let the fact that it's coming from a Cardiff fan delude you Onefor - there's enough over there with similar doubts. <ok>

Can't disagree with any of that, but we are a bit slow on this side of the bridge when it comes to learning our lessons

Of course I’m playing with you OS - but realistically it’s impossible for EVERYONE to win games, so there will be losers.
Our form has been poor of late, but we are mid table. Everyone expected us to win vs Millwall - but everyone expected us to lose vs Brentford (who WBA couldn’t beat at home last night btw).
Still, 4 points in the last 2 games is an ok return. Don’t let the furious debate over LJ fool you into thinking we’re imploding - that has been raging since he arrived here as a player under his old man!!

The doubters are mainly the haters mate. Unfortunately because of his bloodline to GJ, nothing will change, even if we got promoted!!

Don't get me wrong guys - banter is one thng and I'm all for it, but my post was a serious.

There's a definite glimpse of deja vu about this season for you. The last couple of years when we were in the Championship with you, it looked as you had got away to a dream start when other more fancied clubs in the division were expected to do better.

The season before last after that great start you were lucky to stay up. Last season, you were flying playing some excellent football and then it all hit the fan. Around Christmas time, we both had a chance to make that final push. We took on Madine the goal scoring machine <laugh> and you went abroad for some French guy to do the business for you.

The rest is history. We pushed on making the best of what we had and you fell away toward mid table.

From what I've seen so far this season you are in a worse place right now than in either of the previous two at this time. The buffer is being eroded and a relegation scrap looks far more likely than a push for the top.

I'm making no mileage out of this - just saying that going on the past two season second halfs, you are starting from a more precarious position than then.

If it doesn't turn around before Christmas, there could be more blood on the floor between posters on this forum than previously. Nothing wrong with debate, but far better to debate between you from a position of strength than struggle. <ok>

Sparky, we have been favourites for the drop ever since we arrived in this league - until now. This season is the first when we haven’t been in the bookies predictions for relegation.
We certainly don’t look great at the moment - we have won a few scrappy horrible games but lost when playing well (WBA, Stoke).
The thing is, we are unpredictable. You must remember how unpredictable this league is Sparky - you haven’t been out of it long enough to forget, surely?
Your comments about ‘looking over our shoulders at Rotherham’ could apply to any team in the bottom half of the table, not just us.
I am quite a pessimistic fan normally, but I don’t fear the drop this season. That may change of course, but although we are a bit ‘meh’ at present, there are worse teams in the league right now.

R&W - my comment about "looking over your shoulders at Rotherham" was made in the context that at towards the end of October you were looking over your shoulder at the likes of Brum, Villa and Stoke. They were below you and unless you get a grip on it at the time, the 4 sides I mentioned earlier could all follow the same route viz above you.

No sweat about being optimistic on your part pal, but more often than not, a pessimist doesn't get dissappointed. <ok>

all teams lose games, and we aint lucky because they do its how you finish up with a team at the top and a team at the bottom! also should your team lose 14 games in a season then is it best to lose them spread out … as a 4 on the trot 4 on the trot and 2 x 3 on the trot? ….

That's the trouble with putting posters on "ignore" - you can't follow thread evolution, and as a result of the missed posts, start to make general assumptions - a bit like assuming and posting that CCFC would probably breach FFP regulations last year only to be proved totally wrong.

Hitting the ignore button to avoid being challenged by someone who might hold a different opinion demonstrates personal weakness on a football chat forum.

Oh I forgot - you won't see this will you Rob. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Please release me from this torture and let me back into your life....<wah> <laugh>

To me it doesn't really matter that we lose games now and then, it's the matter of how we're performing that's the problem, I still go to every game, I could never miss one personally cause I love it but watching us the past few months passing it around with no game plan, pace, no energy and nobody moving off the ball to create space but instead looking clueless not having a clue what they're doing get's annoying and is depressing to witness every week.
