Not really, because nowhere have I said we are staying up and Rafa isn't leaving. They are a possibility. And we can all be a bunch of negative nancys thinking the worst. What a wonderful life that is...

Being the king of "this bad thing could happen" is no badge of honour. Its as if you suggest we shouldn't think positive or enjoy our current run for fear of relegation? Lets all not leave the house either in case the Russians or ISIS decide to declare war.

Deal in reality I say. Currently we are doing ok, we have a good run of games and a window ahead of us. I fully expect to see no signings arrive and yes that is a negative. I also fully expect to stay up and Rafa to stay on. That is a massive positive. I could be wrong. I just don't get our fans. Yes we have a **** owner and we don't do enough on transfers, but it all gets blown way out of proportion. A lot of our fans wouldn't last 5mins supporting clubs in the lower reaches who don't have any of these luxuries. Seriously have Newcastle United got it that bad? Nah.

Fans should just get behind the team. Rafa has got himself out of the negative mindset he had early doors, I suggest our fans do the same. Its understandable after a bad window but we can't just carry on like that throughout the season. If so I'd suggest those fans support Man C or someone of that ilk who don't have these issues. If you can't tell already, I'm really bored of our negative fans!

I wasn't being Negative. I was just suggesting its a possibility given Rafa has not signed a new contract and it runs out soon. He has stated he loves the fans and the club but he has not suggested one bit that he is staying. We have to prepare for the fact that he may indeed leave. That is not being negative that is me just been sensible. The contract has been on the table for a while and it remains to be signed. Clearly he must have asked for reassurances about the future and as yet he has not been given them. So he acts professional and carries on his job. And he is fooking good at it too!

For the record I am quite happy with our recent form and long may it continue. We had a very hard start to the season and we do not have a large squad of good quality players but what Rafa is doing is grinding out results. Working with what he has got. Whether that is enough or not remains to be seen.

I also believe the fans are behind the team, they just want Ashley out. They are entitled to look at it in a positive or negative manner because they are fans. We want what is best for our club and should NOT accept anything less. Me personally I want us to be doing whatever it takes within our restraints to improve. Our owner does not appear to have the same objectives, why would he? He is not a fan! Am I happy with our current regime and setup - NO. Am I happy with our start to the season - NO. Am I happy with our recent form - YES.

I also think we are in a relegation battle and that is also just being realistic. If we end up out of it then Brilliant. Recent events over the last 10 years suggest we should always be looking over our shoulder with our current owner. He hasn't exactly stuck to his promises and we have been relegated twice since he began. That is not being negative, that is being factual.

Anyways, I am optimistic given recent results that we can survive this season and avoid relegation but I do fear without promises being met from Ashley that he will be gone. THAT IS MY OPINION AND I AM STICKING TO IT.

Now where is my coat! ;-)

So what bit is biting me on the arse then?

The fans are behind the team to a certain extent. They're also a bunch of whinging fannies who don't know how good they have it. I wish some of them had experienced some of the 80's and realise how bad it can get. I don't even think I saw the worst of that decade. Its understandable to an extent if they started around the KK or Robson era. They get thinking that is the norm. History tells us it isn't.

We are in a relegation battle. Every club outside the top 8 or 9 could be classed as that really. The margins are so small. I kept hearing early doors we had one of the worst squads in the league. I disagreed then and disagree now. We have strengths and weaknesses like all sides. Our central defence options would match up to some top 8 sides. Its that good. We have good players like Kenedy who would walk into nearly every side outside the top 8.

We could spend our time looking over our shoulder or accept what it is and crack on. I know which I enjoy more as a fan.

Nah Mick, not excited at all. We are in a relegation battle. The same relegation battle we're always in under this ownership. He is a prime ****. However I think we have a manager cute enough to navigate a way out.

I am just sick to death of listening to the same old complaints, the same old protest and the same old negativity. Its gets you nowhere in life. Lets enjoy this run and accept our situation. Make the best of it essentially because no amount of moaning or protests will persuade teflon Michael to change his ways. We do badly, its the end of the world. We do well, the end of the world is round the corner. Surround yourself with negativity and you'll have a **** life in my experience. Its not about being naive and living in a land of make believe, its just about not getting bogged down thinking the worst. Once a window closes I just support my team.

If I was being kind I'd say this is all planned and Rafa has targeted this run of games, looking to peak our fitness and prep for it. Reality is I think he has managed to get himself out of the negative mindset he had after another terrible window.

Like you say, the watching of MOTD is a great barometer. It only happens when we've been good in my house. 20+ points looks well doable now, having looked impossible 4 weeks ago.

    There it is.
You seem quite happy to scrape by whilst we go about losing the best Manager we've had in years.

Mike Ashley's Stockholm syndrome in full effect.

This - people are so blinded by years of this **** they just don't care anymore. People think 3 wins on the bounce is a godsend now, 12 years ago it was the norm. Down to one man and his business model but by all means sit there and do nothing about it, because THAT really helps.

This is all that is wrong in a nutshell.

Nope but I accept the situation for what it is. What would you suggest the fans do about it? An 11min walk in <laugh>

You seem quite happy to piss and moan but don't have any solutions. A negative nancy in full effect.

Nope we are just able to understand and accept reality. We are not so stupid to think an 11min walk in is going to have an effect on our loathsome billionaire owner. Get over it and get behind the team.

I ****ing called it....slightly earlier than I predicted but he's gone...which means I'm still right, off to tell the missus so she can put it in her diary (it'll be the first ****ing entry of the year like)!

Wonder where he'll pop up next, Fulham have already blinked first so he can't go there. My money's on Cardiff....Warlock will get pedalled before the season is out I reckon and Hughsey will come riding in to try and save them from relegation.

As I've stated many times, the exit of Ashley, new owners investing the club's money properly and a new contract for Rafa Benitez will suffice.

    As for name-calling...

    Name calling?

I can only assume you are talking about Negative nancy. An urban term for someone you believe spends their time being overly negative. Similar to saying you believe someone is suffering from Mike Ashley Stockholm Syndrome. Glad to clear it up for you :emoticon-0148-yes:

"the exit of Ashley, new owners investing the club's money properly and a new contract for Rafa Benitez will suffice"

That is a statement of what you want, similar to what most fans want. It does not offer a solution as previously stated. I'll give you a clue though, there is no solution! He can do what the **** he likes.

Who's being a negative Nancy now?

I can see what a gargantuan intellect you are, so I'll press you no further.

That's just realism as opposed to being negative. If somebody out there has a suggestion which will have a tangible impact on the fat man, and will force him to leave, I'm bang up for it. If the object is to sit around pissing and moaning, then I'll opt out. Have a nice evening.

Remember though, if you are out then you are out. Doesn't matter if someone then comes up with a cracking suggestion you have to continue to be out!
