Actually, with Hughes football connections he maybe able to get into an advisory role.

I’m sure he could get a message to Mike Ashley. Sports Direct always need useless ****ers who don’t have a clue what the **** they are doing in one of their stores :emoticon-0138-think

Not sure what you’d want him advising unless someone is after Kia Joorabchian’s phone number or a recommendation for a local golf course.

I can’t say I think that he was useless, but he was certainly unlucky. He got players to play a much more attractive brand of footy. He took a team who scarcely had an attempt on goal and made them much more positive. I can recall several shots being tipped over the bar. We scored from open play. Ings disallowed goal. I don’t recall any restlessness at St Marys as the ball is passed aimlessly around the back.
On the debit side, the defence was woeful and the players bought in haven’t shone, but I can think of a few of our managers who didn’t produce anything worth watching. Good luck to him.

Have always said we have been unlucky...we deserve more points than we have....but suspect that is true of any relegated side. If only, if only..... A team like ours that create a lot of shots on target is salvageable, though not a lot can be done about decisions going against you. Hughes would still be here if we had scored even a couple of crucial goals resulting in 2 more wins....it's that close.

Good job keeping us up and earnt his shot at managing us this season, though I wish we'd be a little more canny in our redundancy clauses and link them to how long the manager has been at the club. At least we know where the goal is, a marked change from MP2.

On the downside, our defence is woeful and needs some serious work. Let's hope the Hustle can find the magic formula and get us playing as a team again and that, with our chief scout back again as Director of Football, the black box will get the attention it has sorely missed for the last few seasons.

Yes, fine margins. I was thinking after Manure game at weekend, if we’d beat them at Wembley in the final, there’s no way we would have sacked Puel & who knows where we would be now? Can’t believe it would have been worse than last couple of seasons.

Thanks for keeping us up though MH. I definitely echo the unlucky recent tag but also firmly believe you make your own luck.

Ah but how much would relegation have cost us?

It's the way of the world (sadly). Actually I really hope he gets back into the business sooner rather than later and makes a success of it. But as others have said, maybe he needs to review the coaches around him.

Without sounding nasty or ungrateful, I hope he doesn’t get a top managers job. There are too many younger coaches in the leagues beneath the premier league that should get opportunities before Hughes. To me, he’s shown many times the type of coach he is. Personally I’d like these guys moving on (or upstairs at a lower league club) allowing fresh talent to come through please.
