Looking ahead to the remaining four matches to the halfway point we have: Rotherham (h) 19th Bolton (h) 23rd Bristol City (a) 14th Blackburn (a) 13th Leeds have: Sheffield United (a) (4th) QPR (h) (9th) Bolton (a) (23rd) Villa (a) (8th) Boro have: Villa (h) (8th) Blackburn (h) 13th QPR (a) 9th Reading (a) WBA have: Brentford (h) 18th Villa (h) 8th Sheffield United (a) 4th Rotherham (a) 19th Sheffield United have: Leeds (h) Reading (a) WBA (h) Ipswich (a)
I'd say Forest have it as easy as anyone. 3 winnable home games, with QPR the toughest of the 3, but with the small matter of an away Derby. I think they'll be looking at 9-10pts With our two toughish away games I think 8 to 10pt. So I'd give them the easiness edge mostly because of the 3 home games Bah!
With WBA playing Brentford Monday, it's now down to the remaining 3 matches to the halfway point. Norwich have: Bolton (h) 23rd Bristol City (a) 14th Blackburn (a) 13th Leeds have: QPR (h) (11th) Bolton (a) (23rd) Villa (a) (8th) Boro have: Blackburn (h) (8th) QPR (a) (11th) Reading (a) (21st) WBA have: Brentford (h) 18th (Monday) Villa (h) (8th) Sheffield United (a) (4th) Rotherham (a) (19th) Sheffield United have: Reading (a) (21st) WBA (h) (3rd) Ipswich (a) (24th)
WBA have potentially tough games against both Villa and Sheffield Utd If we can get another 6 or more points from those games ......... Edit - Has anyone else downloaded the ‘PinkUn’ app. Some interesting contributions from the Archant hacks.
The main players in the squad - GK Krull, McGovern RB Aarons, Pinto (Passlack) LB Lewis, (Passlack)?? CB Hanley, Godfrey, Klose, Zimmerman DM Tettey, Trybull, Leitner, Thompson ACM Stieperman, Vrancic, TC, McLean, Bendy, Hernandez Striker Pukki, JR, Sir Benny My main concern is GK, as I’d hate to see McGovern in goal for any length of time. LB is also a concern and not sure if Pinto could cover there in an emergency. Certainly don’t see any point in signing another midfielder.
We're now halfway through the six games we were talking about above, with 7 points from those 3 games. If we can get at least 6 more points from the final 3 we'll finish with 13 and an average of 2 points per game over the first half of the season. As for the squad, we have enough midfielders and you haven't even mentioned Marshall, who can play WL/WR or LB/RB. Pinto can also play LB, as can Stiepermann. GK could be a concern, but we might have to manage for now and then get another in the summer, depending on whether we gain promotion.
Villa is on a run to match ours in the last 5 games: 4-0-1. They've scored 17 goals in those five. It's nice to see that they play at West Brom, then are home vs. Stoke then Leeds. Three draws in a row while we win our three would be a great Christmas present. Santa, are you listening???
Ha yes Rick, I forgot Marshall, so definitely no more midfielders. I agree re a GK, but would rather wait till summer,
I agree. I see Remi Matthews has only played 4 times for Bolton, so he could be returning in January.
Had the same thought about Passlack. I wonder if we'll be able to keep hold of him with his lack of game time. He's rated so highly but obviously can't budge Aarons and DF doesn't seem to rate him further forward.
Hard to say. He's started all four cup games so far (two against PL teams), but no league games, though he's been on the bench 3 times. Up to him really.
With WBA drawing at home to Brentford last night, it's now down to the remaining 3 matches to the halfway point. A win against Bolton could put us in a strong position over those third and below, but shaking off Leeds could be difficult. Their toughest game is Villa away. West Brom and the Blades play each other as do Forest and Derby. Norwich have: Bolton (h) 23rd Bristol City (a) 14th Blackburn (a) 13th Leeds have: QPR (h) (11th) Bolton (a) (23rd) Villa (a) (8th) Boro have: Blackburn (h) (8th) QPR (a) (11th) Reading (a) (21st) WBA have: Villa (h) (8th) Sheffield United (a) (4th) Rotherham (a) (19th) Sheffield United have: Reading (a) (21st) WBA (h) (3rd) Ipswich (a) (24th) Forest have: Preston (h) Derby (a) (7th) QPR (h) (11th) Derby have: Wigan (a) (15th) Forest (h) (5th) Bristol City (h) (14th)
city and Boro both play Blackburn who are actually 10th this morning, not 8th or 13th... sorry for being a pedant
Corrected now, CC. Was concentrating on adding Forest and Derby and didn't check back. Edit: Interesting insight into City's recruitment team: https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/norwich-city-transfer-strategy-revealed-1-5805237
If they had all been in place 2 years ago, we would never have signed the donkey Naismith. Edit - I've taken the fixtures to the end of 2019 and added the actual dates the games will be played. I can hear Darren Moore complaining IF WBA lose on Friday, as they will have had 2 days less/fewer rest than Villa. Interesting to see how many times teams are playing each other this month and I'd expect every team to drop some points This shows our form over the last 15 games and we are 9 points better than our nearest challengers and also have a far superior GD.
You have to wonder if Chris Martin could have had the same impact??? https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...twell-norwich-city-in-the-spotlight-1-5805134
