RH confirmed according to this Austrian report, they claim he will be presented as the new Saints manager today. https://www.kleinezeitung.at/sport/...alph-Hasenhuettl-neuer-Trainer-in-Southampton
I know you should give managers time etc, but Pochettino’s first game has been talked about again on here and I remember Hoddle having a strong impact from his first match. Their was a collective sigh of relief after Koemans first match following the great meltdown too. Results may take time, but I think the good coaches don’t take long to impact on performances
Agreed, but Poch had a very different squad to the one we’re rolling out for Ralph. I just don’t want people’s excitement bubble to pop if we don’t roll Cardiff over 3-0 with a dazzling display of Gegenpress.
Earlier someone mentioned about giving the new manager time.............When I read this a memory flash came to mind.......a certain Laurie Mac........He joined us and we were relegated..........but we kept him on. The rest is history and he is now a legend at Saints..............Just a reminder guys..........
Anyone else looking forward to mid table mediocrity?. Do the Puel boo bunch still believe boring is bad?
Spoke to a friend who is a RBL "fan". (He went over to watch them a few times when Ralph Rabbithutch was there after hearing about their rise from the depths of German football). He said that when RBL were a 4th tier team they threw a load of money at Ralf Rangnick to come in, who is the inventor of the Gegenpress. He stayed there only a season but his style of play was cemented in the club and Hasenhuttl was his replacement and carried on the philosophy. Now Hasenhuttl has left they have re-appointed Rangnick so it seems both have very similar styles. Can see it being like a pence version of when Klopp took over at Liverpool. Is going to take a few transfer windows before we see the real outcome as the current squad probably isn't suited to that style so will need a big over haul.
I'm sure that Ralph (may I call him Ralph?) will want to assess our team and look to bring others in (though probably not too many possible at the moment). However, I do think we have good players....just not a good team. I'm sure that in the short term something can be done with the players we have. The question is can the new manager get the best out of what we've got and can he get a team that will suit his style out of our motley crew. Not expecting miracles this season (though one would be nice)...he has to somehow get the requisite points out the team whilst assessing all the players (including the youngsters) for next season.
If he doesn’t get things going straight away, I believe he will be given time. He has the exact sort of experience that we should be appointing. Imo this I completely different to any manager we have appointed since Koeman, in that he fits exactly what we want to be as a club.
