Nothing will happen. All those angry little England types are full of wind and piss mate. As soon as Brexaggedon is called off, Rees-Mogg and the Tory headbangers will find some other lost cause to chuff on about, while the Yaxley-Lennon fanboys will go back to auditioning for the Jeremy Kyle show.
I hope you're right, Archers. I don't want to see my country turned into looking like Baghdad after the invasion. I fear I'm right, though. The turnout on the vote showed the passion for Brexit and I think that could spill over into carnage.
Not in the winter. No one ever riots when it’s pissing down and freezing ****ing cold. And by next summer, it’ll all be forgotten. And I think the real passion was for telling David Cameron and the whole of Westminster to **** off. Brexit isn’t in anyone’s interests, it was just a convenient banner for a lot of pissed off people to rally round.
They probably will. I saw a handful of that lot passing through Finsbury Park on their way back from some rally or other recently. I wouldn’t call them particularly intimidating, except possibly when they’re mobbed up in large numbers. Unlikely ever to outnumber even our under resourced Old Bill though, so no need to worry.
This is the bit ignored by some Brexit voters, and feared by the others who cry 'democracy' but refuse another vote a few years later because they know that there were plenty of protest votes and none of their Xs were for remain
You see the ‘free tommy’ types and assorted gammon intimating or outright saying, there’ll be Civil insurrection if there’s another referendum and the decision was reversed by the electorate. Whilst rambling on incessantly about 17.4m people, democracy, and the will of the people. If the will of the people has changed now there’s more information available and some of the promises made by Brexiteers look hollow now, then it is what it is - democracy. If some couldn’t handle that and wanted to kick off, then democracy maybe isn’t for them. Democracy doesn’t end, it’s an ongoing process. If the nation has changed its mind, that’s life. If it hasn’t, then the issue is done. Personally I’ve said I’d only want a second vote if Parliament was deadlocked and we were sleepwalking into a no deal scenario. Which despite all of the Brexiteers bluster isn’t what 17.4m people all voted for, even the Leave campaign said we’d only leave in an orderly manner with a trade deal.
Absolutely. I was walking past the Houses of Parliament today and there were a fair few with Leave means Leave placards among the stop Brexit stuff. When I say fair few it was probably around 20 out of maybe 100 but the numbers are increasing. I'm supposed to be in there next Tuesday for a committee - could be as stormy outside as inside. I was very pro remain but I really hope she wins the vote. All of the alternatives worry the life out of me.
Tbh i'm not sure what i want the outcome to be, i originally stood by her because of the bullying or the white middle aged sexist men, as i would call it. I would like to think politicians would do whatever they feel they need to do for the good of the public interest, whilst at the same time as upholding the outcome of the vote. My only concern is that it is for the good of the country and not for personal or party agenda's - but we all know the latter will come in to play. We live in a world now, where someone can be arrested for throwing a banana skin at a football game, but grown men can get away with bullying a woman in our democratic house.
Where does it end, though? That's what I keep asking. If we have the second vote and remain in the EU, wins it. What if the polls show the will of the people has changed again to leave after 2 years? Do we then vote again and keep voting every time the will of the people is showing to change?
As it was argued today, it took over 40 years to put all the EU rules in place, yet people want to complain because we haven't sorted this out in two years. In my view May has bigger bolloxs than any man. Don't mean to say i agree with her, nor vote for her, but anyone that thought this divorce was going to be sorted out as simple as they suggest lives in cloud fooking cuckoo land. But like any divorce, dosen;t mean it shouldn't happen, the EU turned into a cocoa and slipper sort of guy, became lazy, arrogant and took us all for granted, sadly for the EU the Mrs walked out and is looking for a new relationship.
That’s a fair point, as those who have pushed for it within Westminster aren’t going to go away. Farage would no doubt start a UKIP MK2 and it’d likely be popular and put us back to where all of this started - which was the Tories seeking to stop both voters and MP’s defecting to UKIP, so Cameron said we could have a vote as part of the Tory manifesto and his gamble went pear-shaped. Personally, I’d rather just see Mays deal go through, we leave and in an orderly fashion with no cliff edge and they’ve then got 2 years to sort out the trade deal and the necessary infrastructure. Brexiteers can prove the technological border solution is actually a thing, and the arguments over the backstop become moot, as we’d never fall into it. Job done, and everyone can move on.
