Even compared to Zidane, Messi & Ronaldo, he is more than distinctly ordinary!

Mate of mine who tends to get these things right and has a "club source," informs me that Hasenhüttl and Mitchell have been interviewed by the club and are first choices. Paulo Sousa has also been interviewed but the club are holding out for the above two, thus the lack of immediate appointment.

Well, compared to those three and Luis Figo, almost anyone would look ordinary. Becks didn’t just go to Real to sell shirts though, he went there because he was good enough.

Completely agree - I think Beckham improved when he moved to Europe. I happened by chance to watch a YouTube video of him the other day and he was actually very, very good. There is no one in todays game that can pick out such accurate passes from moving positions and dead ball situations. There were two to Zidane and one to the original Ronaldo (who I massively prefer to the other prick), that were simply out of this world.

Yep that was my point - even compared against the best of the best he was still more than ordinary.

So Saints have interviewed Mitchell and Haselnut, but it’s a case of “don’t call us, we’ll call you” - in reverse?

Sounds like the ball is very much in their court

**"As he explained it to me, the idea is for “everyone working against the ball, trying to get the ball and then quick change in the offensive and try to score.”**

He'll need to be careful with all this crazy, futuristic football talk or he'll be dragged through the village and drowned for being a witch!

If I remember correctly, the first match Pochettino took, we were immediately into the high press from the first whistle.
Hopefully, if this guy comes here, he will have the same, immediate effect.

Even when we lost it made the games look entertaining and exciting from the kick off.

I recall Everton (I think) in our second season under Poch kicking off and our pressing so hard that they passed back a couple of times then one of their defenders passed it deliberately into touch as he had no options. Glorious to watch.

Not sure he is quite the same level as Beckham. De Bruyne has other qualities that Beckhams perhaps didnt have, and can undoubtedly pick a pass, can take people on better, but I dont see the level of passing - Beckham literally did that multiple times a game. For me personally, I think Dave just edges Kev!

I'm desperate to get excited about bringing that duo in. Struggling not to, to be honest. But until/unless it gets announced, I don't want to get my hopes up. If there's one club who can bugger it up from here...

Big call. I’d say De Bruyne is a better player than Becks by quite a way personally, his touch is absolutely unreal.

That being said, that performance when Beckham dragged us to the Euro’s by scoring the free kick against Greece was one of the best single performances I have ever seen. He was a monster that day

I never said Beckham was better - I said I thought his passing was.

Exactly how I feel. We’ve been down this road before. Excited by potential prospects only to end up with a far less inspiring choice. Granted we no longer have Uncle Les, but I’ll attempt to dampen my excitement until there’s anything official.

It was. Sublime is the only word for it. And he saw the pass early, and played it into space just as the space opened up.

Gaston Ramirez was sort of like a **** David Beckham, isn’t that why we all loved him?
