Back in the 80's etc I believe it was racist but nowadays I think alot of it is that what you described...that's my honest opinion..I didn't want to come across as supporting someone just because of the club allegiance of the perpetrator but I get a hunch it's just that...especially considering the different colours and nationalities in all our teams nowadays...back then black players were rare and it was definitely a racist gesture
My phone feed's a bit spazzy... so apologies if I've got this wrong ... Saints have sacked Mark "Sparky" Hughes and Calvin Klein will be taking charge in the interim whilst they negotiate a proper deal for John Hartson to take over full time ... "Sparky" is not too despondent as he will receive a bumper pay off and has already been installed as the bookies favourite for a likely soon forthcoming Premier League Manger vacancy in the North West of England (not Burnley)
Totally agreed. It's a difficult one for the authorities to judge, because of the history of that gesture. But yesterday it was a banana skin, which says the person has already eaten it, so most likely they just had a banana for something to eat. I used to take bananas with me to games, they are cheap, easy and good quick snack. When I mentioned this regarding the Adebayor incident some people on here were like 'Oh come on, who takes a banana to a football match ?!' When the bigger question is, 'why the **** do you think it's strange to take a banana to a football match in the first place ?'
Can you lot please stop distracting the thread with this trivial nonsense from the fact the world’s biggest **** has been sacked again?
Oh. Probably should get a slap on the wrist otherwise the FA open a can of worms if/when it happens again but personally I enjoyed it.
In my earlier post I said that I thought better of Spurs fans - in that I don’t think racism is something they do, and I can’t recall it being an issue before. As Ian Wright said on MOTD he got abuse but it wasn’t racial. I will hurl abuse at opposing teams players (and also at my own when they are playing ****) and that is part of the game. If the Spurs fan had thrown the banana at Torreira would we even be talking about this !
Ouch! Matth will be seething when he works out that you’ve clipped his wings with your apposite comments.
Again, no banana was thrown. A banana skin was thrown. The original racist message was related to black people eating bananas because they are, in the words of Kelvin MacKenzie "a gorilla in a zoo". Previous racist attacks involved whole bananas. If the banana is already ate by the thrower, WTF message is that supposed to be?
Don’t worry, Matth. Mourhino is a negative manager who will set you up to defend cowardly for your lives. No way will Arsenal put 4 past you, like they did against us. It’ll be more like one or two. Mind you, neither with you score against them (like we did, twice). So, I reckon you’re looking at a respectable 2-0 defeat, at most.
Seriously? ... well thanks for the history lesson ... but do you really think that the guy who threw the banana 'skin' would have thrown it at any of Arsenal's white players? ... if your answer to that question is "no" then it's fair to assume that there was a racial undertone to the gesture ... PS the correct answer is "no" ... happy to help
Apart from the fact that your fourth sentence is completely garbled Quents, it is quite refreshing to see you taking some consolation at having scored twice against Arsenal in a resounding defeat ... rather than reams of usual bollocks that tends to gush on for days and days ... have you updated your little league of London yet?
