Would you not agree though that it might have been rustiness............I certainly would agree for one of the goals but the second one I think you may be being a tad harsh!!
You don’t have to justify who you support to anyone. But since when has Tottenham been in the Solent area?
Im sorry guys....but for me Saints were unlucky...........I think we can take a lot of positives from the Game. For me the midfield in the first half were higher up the pitch. On a couple of occasions when we were attacking we didn't have a defender in our half!! I agree in the second half the mid field played deeper and in my view didn't pick up united's mid field enough. So they dominated more in the second half. That young 18 year old of ours really troubled united it was a shame the ref let them kick him off the park. He certainly will worry a lot of defences. Pity he's on the small side........but I guess we cant have everything. I don't know who is coaching our defence......all I can say is if George Horsfall was doing it a few would have been kicked in the Ass. Talk about panic....... Cedric....Vestergaard.....and Yoshi were very guilty at times. Also during warm up they were practising heading with a coach just in front of me. When ever they jumped high for a ball all without exception were actually on their way down at contact. The coach never picked up on it? Ok I accept they were in warm up but warm up is also meant for practice surely.......or am I wrong about that?? Valery held is own and will have learned a lot. So yes I saw a lot more positives........ although still some negatives. I think Saints are heading in the right direction if they continue like this..........
Dont disagree with your posts, however if you watch Vesti on the lead up to their second goal it is painful. He even does a little skip at one point, hey ho good game to watch.
Didn't we say exactly the same LAST season with a good performance against United? Can't keep saying it ...
I guess we did.......how ever we lost a very influenceable player since then have we not? Makes a difference.......
I seen shoots of recovery yesterday (Remond and Lemina were excellent) but maybe we need a new defensive coach to help MH, cut out the silly mistakes and we will stay up easily, not top half but around mid table.
I realised it during the week. It shocked me too. Burnley have already lost at home to Watford, Newcastle, Chelsea and Utd - three of those sides never even took the lead at SMS, let alone beat us. But they managed to beat Bmouth at home. Palace too have lost four times at home already, to us and Wolves, alongside Liverpool and Spurs. But they have now managed to beat Burnley at home. It's even worse for Newcastle, they've lost at home to West Ham, Leicester and Brighton, as well as Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal. But they got back to back home wins last month against Bmouth and Watford. I'm sure there are other examples too; I've not looked at everyone's home results so far. Given how little we've behind at home, it's almost unfathomable that we haven't got a single win yet. As you say, we're just so uncomfortable when in front.
Finishing 17th will be fine by me right now. And not just a defensive coach, but a defensive leader in January. *Cahill* *Cough Cough*
Having watched a replay of the first goal Maya got caught on the wrong side of Rashford, most CB's would have tugged him back and taken a yellow, either Maya is too much of a gentleman or not savvy enough! Friend bagged 8 yellows, was there a really enough bad fouls to warrant that? For the second Vest was marking empty space where he was expecting Pogba or Fellaini to be, they were absent, just Herrera making an inspired run which should have been picked up.
There have been so many awful matches/results this season...so I am not going to be brought down on rare occasion when we get a decent result. We scored 2 good goals, gave match time to 2 Academy lads and held on for 45 mins against Manchester United. And I got to watch MOTD. Happy days.
Seems that, according to other sites, Galatasaray are showing interest in luring him away in the January window :=(
Sadly the way things are at the club if any of our players are being sought after they'll go, however much we need them.
We have to sell to buy and unfortunately it won't be the poor players that are sellable. However, I would guess that Hughes won't want to lose his best players unless the value of one allows him to buy 2 that he thinks would do better for us. Bednarek comes under the category of decent player, but not a deal breaker. Can see him sold if a decent offer comes in.
Probably a victim of the few recent managerial changes in as much as has not had much chance to get a decent run in the first team.
First time in ages that I came away fully proud of the team. So much more intensity to our play yesterday, it was amazing to see, like the saints of old. If you add last night to the Fulham performance, things are starting to look a little better. Hope we can keep it up
What I’ve seen of Bednarek puts him above Hoedt and Vestergaard, neither of whom are PL quality CB’s. If we don’t strengthen that position in January we are sunk, it’s as simple as that, and letting a player go who could fill the gap we have is madness. But then madness seems to be the club’s guiding principle at the moment.
