Big games for me. I'd fancy us to be competitive in all three. I don't think we can really expect to beat all three as the PL is tough and if we were that consistent we'd end up a lot higher in the league! Defence will be key again due to our lack of attacking threat, but I have a lot of faith in Colo/Taylor. I also think Tiote will step his game up after a ropey start. This could release Cabaye a little more than we've seen so far. I think we'll do well but I do think QPR will be tough. I'm expecting Barton to play out of his skin as our ex players always seem to and I think they'll be on a bit of a high after getting some real quality through the door prior to deadline day. They've bought some good experienced PL pro's. I think its a game where we have to be up for it as the ground is tight, and I think they'll be chomping at the bit. I think our players will be keen to get one over Joey though as you always want to run over ex players at any level, for the banter that ensues alone!

Blackburn's defence could be good - Dann and Samba. We need Guti to penetrate Salgado (most penalties given away last year) and get some penalties!.

For me, i think our next 8 league games will shape our season, all 8 are 'winnable'. If we came out of them with 18 points i think we'll be on for a good season.

    QPR(a), Villa(a), Blackburn(h), Wolves(a), Spurs(h), Wigan(h), Stoke(a), Everton(h).

Had we signed a decent stiker, i'd be fairly confident we could be in the top 4 come November.

I reckon we will beat QPR in a gritty 1-0 win. Aston Villa, I can see a draw at the very best. Possibly a 0-0 or a 1-1. Then Blackburn, well, I dunno about this one. On papar, we should win. However, they are abit of a boggy team for us. We seem to perform poorly against them. Although last year away from home we were rather good.

My heart says we will win 3-0, though my mind reckons we will be beaten 1-0

7 points would do me fine, even 6. We should (does not necessarily mean we will) beat QPR and Blackburn. Villa could end up going either way

    My guess would be
    QPR.................win
    Villa.................draw
    Blckburn...........win
    Wolves............lose
    Spurs.............draw
    Wigan.............win
    Stoke..............lose
    Everton............win

That would give us another 14 points and a total of 21 points from 11 games. I would be bloody happy with this, but we would not have faced any of the big boys apart from Arsenal

i think if we managed to get 20 points on the board out of those games i don't think we'd need to worry too much about playing the big boys as we will be playing them with nothing to lose having got the job done against the lesser lights.

I agree. I think we've been very fortunate with our earlier season fixtures. But we do need to put the points on the board. If we do, confidence will be high and like you say we'll go into the games against the big boys with nothing to lose. This could see us pick up some unexpected points. To be honest though I never like looking too far ahead because the PL never works out like you'd think! Every game is an unknown such is the ferocity of the competition

i'll say 4 points, but buggered if i know which game we'll win, which we'll lose and which we'll draw.

11 points from 6 games with only one loss would be a very decent start. Anything better would be wonderful. Fewer than 3 points from the next three games would be worrying.

    QPR 0-4 NUFC
    Villa 1-1 NUFC
    NUFC 3-1 B'burn

Based on the current for of the opposition and our current form I think this is a very realistic target.

    3 games and 9 points.

I'd bet AH's sexuality on it and he's happy.

    QPR 0-0
    Villa 1-0 loss
    Blackburn 3-1 win

4 points, giving us 11 from 6 games... not bad

I expect 8 points from the next three games.

Also, Bent's injured, anyone know how long for? if he's out for our game their main goal threat becomes Nzogbia

Take the top 6 (Man City, Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham) out of the equation and ourselves. That leaves us with 13 teams. Home win and draw away and you have 52 points...very nice ;)

    Good article <ok>

I would hope to win at all three as these, a you rightly said, are our markers.

However, life does not always work like that and I think a win and two draws, or even better, a loss and two wins (no particular order) would see me pretty satisfied.

I reality im certain we could beat all three on our day, but three in a row is a big ask and there's no accounting for injuries and suspensions.
