So not conceding a goal in final minute makes this a good performance having conceded two soft goals in half. Struggling to see any positives in this result.
I wasn’t talking about moral victory though Schad. I was responding to a dumb post saying we were crap. I thought we played well, and have played better lately. I still think Hughes will get sacked, maybe tomorrow, as this team should be playing better and picking up more points.
At least when Ings comes back we finally habe the midfield and strikers for our best 11. Just need to sort out this bloody defense
Had we come back from 0-2 down we would have been delighted with a point. Always frustrating to drop points, another day we could have lost that, there were positives and just hope we can use this as a platform. Under extreme pressure I am going to say well done to Hughes. We are not far off being a good team and if we can stay in the race until the transfer window, providing the manager is backed, we may have a chance.
Saw some reasons to be hopeful tonight, Redders, Lemina, Armstrong and Pierre... Valery and Obafemi for the future and the second half performance had a lot of heart and not a little skill either, defensively better too. Apart from two shocking pieces of defending we would've won that game easily as Billy says against a CL last 16 side.
Obafemi was holding his bum cheek in a painful way, I think we can already say that's an injury we can do without. Hopefully as he's 18 he'll be fine again in about 20 minutes.
Agreed. He should now progress with his plans. Ok not brilliant to lose a lead twice but as you say slowly things are clicking into place. We now know for sure who not to play in defence but unfortunately our buying policies have been poor so Sparky’s choice is limited. Bedbarek should now come more into focus I think. Let’s face it scoring 5 goals in three matches is a vast improvement especially if you add in two disallowed ones (one should have counted for sure!!). Keep the faith as they say
We were okay. Man U is pretty average this season, so we should not be thinking a draw against Man U. is like a win. Then again, we suck, so a draw against an average side IS like a win. We badly needed 3. I did not expect to get it. Then we started like a house on fire and I started to get my hopes up a little. Then we did what we always do. Still think Redmond is better on the right. Still think this team is a better than last year's. I am not expecting a steel defense, but IMO they should be at least a bit better than this with better managing, and we have lost 4 or 5 points because of it. I do not think Hughes can turn it around. But get the right manager in, make an astute signing in winter (not necessarily a huge priced one) and I think we can stay up. Next few weeks are critical though. We can't fall too far behind. I would sack Hughes ASAP, bu I dunno. I guess it depends on if there is a ready replacement. If waiting 2-3 weeks can get us the right person for the job, then it is worth it. The teams around us are quite crap so we ain't lose much if any ground.
No chance of that, but thanks for the concern, thankfully my life has been blessed: much luck combined with a strong work ethic and never settling for second best. Football is a love, a passion, but never all consuming.
Got to say, as disappointing as it is to once again give up a 2-0 lead, it doesn’t seem as frustrating from a beach in Mexico, soaking up the 30degree sun and drinking cold beer. Maybe I should keep that kind of information to myself...Bloody saints grumble grumble.
