some good points there js and i think we all agree the club needs to change, the treatment of our own fans by our own club is appalling.i agree the steve hayes era has in my opinion been the worst time to support the blues and i have been watching us for 25 years now.so much has changed and not for the better.we used to be able to pay on the day with no problem and no long wait to get in and that needs sorting.the atmosphere has changed and that partly is down to stan the steward banning every tom dick and harry, who does he think he is.jay our best drummer by miles got banned after a scrap with some oxford fans no where near the ground ,never got charged by the police yet stan bans him from adams park for 5 years, that doesnt seem fair to me ,he is not the old bill or a judge so what right does he have to do that.steve hayes should leave the club and hand it back to the fans ,but he is never gonna do that is he.there is more advertising wasps games than ours so that tells me he cares for them more than us and its OUR TOWN OUR CLUB,wasps dont belong here so let them buzz off and lets get the feel good factor back again.
some very good points JS, especielly being made about the matchday experience. food is very pricey and the flag bearing is utterly utterly pointless. agree with keeping the shootout and increasing the community days. the ticketing system: i may be the only one on here that actually thinks the gold membership is quite a good idea, getting into half the season at a reduced price isent too bad really. what i do think is pointless is the 6 game or 3 game membership. however, i think people should be encouraged to buy tickets in advance as oppose to on the day. the lines for tickets which cause all this arguments are caused by the people in the line not buying tickets in advamce as much as it is the clubs fault. when i was in my old school, the club used to come in to talk about the club once/twice a year and would hand the school a certain amount of free tickets for anyone interested to take and go to the next game. i wonder if they still do this, and if not why not? in general though, i strongly belive the answer to the problems are very simple: make the tickets cheaper!
Jose has hit the nail on the head there with that last sentence. There's no need for massive reform, just make going to football easily affordable for everyone and things will change.
I think there needs to be a MASSIVE overhaul on the ticketing front. Aside from the OBVIOUS flaws in the way tickets are purchased by casual supporters on the day its another ticket issue thats making me concerned. A friend of mine who has a 6 year old told me recently that Wasps players visited the school and gave out vouchers for one of their minor games where either a) 2 adults and 2 children can attend for £20 or b) 1 adult and 1 child can attend for £10. So, little kids in school are going to go home, awestruck at having met a player with a ticket voucher in hand. Thats not rocket science - kids coming into the ground, parents able to afford it, stadium has more people in it - easy. And im guessing it doesnt cost too much to administer either. Ive thought a lot about this recently and what bothers me most of all is that Wasps are doing it and WWFC are not. And they are owned by the same person. Maybe im being paranoid but ive got a horrible feeling that low attendances might be Mr Hayes intention........
Im no businessman but its obvious to assume that falling attendences means a falling income. Im guessing this makes WWFC more dependant on its owner/shareholders for its income? Could it be that this is a way for Hayes to justify merging WWFC as a company with Wasps making it easier for Wasps to become the dominant partner?? Im anxious about this as its what happened a couple of years back with Sale Sharks and Stockport County. It may also be a way of Hayes making WWFC worth a lot less in order to sell?? I maybe making no sense (as I said I am no buisnessman) but it strikes me as slightly odd that Wasps have these kind of intiatives and are getting decent gates yet the football club owned by the same guy seems to be doing all it can to put people off. Strange.....................
I think to attract more fans to our club we have to establish ourselves in the league like Oldham, Tranmere ect. Then after a few seasons we can put toghter a strong team under waddock. and attempt promotion. when Brighton got new funding in the first season when we got relegated they only finished 19th season after they became champions so anything possible. but we don't have the fansbase and funding they have. So it will take time for the club to increase in reputation and improve the average attendance. But its not impossible of a team are size to achieve promotion to the championship look at Scunthorpe, Southend and are crummy rivals Colchester. Because these teams are no better than us. and don't have much bigger fansbases and funding than us. YOU just have to believe.
didnt hayes say a few years ago that if his 5 year plan to get to the championship failed he would give the club back to the fans
I would like to see most of what is said above to happen, but I would like the club to communicate with us. I recently sent them an e-mail asking about the falling attendance and a link to this forum to emphasise our concerns - still had no response. First I would like them to acknowledge that fans are concerned about the falling attedances and secondly what they propose to do about it.
The ticketing system is terrible and the pricing. What I believe is that the pricing of the frank adams and bucks stands are ok as they are for people willing to pay more money, but the prices of the terrace and for away fans is farcical. At the moment in the terrace adults are 18, students 13 and juniors 7. If this was changed to 10 for adults and 5 for students and juniors then we would have a greater turnout, as many cash strapped students will be able to afford it (like myself, who can't go to every match anymore). Also, it would be more enticing to casual supporters, who may come down to wycombe 4 or 5 times a season instead of never at the moment due to pricing. Another thing is that the footballers should be made to do a bit of public interaction as part of the contract. It wouldn't be too out of their way for one or two to go to local primary schools for an hour, yet this kind of a publicity stunt would get kids into wwfc, and also raise the clubs profile. Last year Winfield and Rendell spent a few hours talking to fans in Eden, which raised quite a bit of attention for the club, yet its the only thing like that they've done in the last few years. Lastly, I'd like to see football shirts retailed at around £15 from the beginning of the season. They only cost a few pence to make, yet at £35 they don't particularly sell too many. When I went to the forest match there were about 20/30 people wearing new shirts. I'd buy a new one for £15 and so would many other people I feel, most of my mates quite like the new shirt yet are put off by the price. I think the general idea that everyone BUT the people making the decisions have is that more people at a lower price will be more profitable. Its at least worth a go, you can't say we're doing well when nowadays we're making a loss and only ever half fill our stadium.
no response to your email says it all,on another note i am still waiting for a 20 quid refund on my col u ticket which was supposed to be sent to me nearly 3 weeks ago,it seems like the club cant get anything right .
I remember you saying about that - appalling attitude from WWFC. I guess I will have to do a Andy Dufresne and send the e-mail everyday till I get a response.
you would think with all those extra staff someone would find the time to respond to your email.even i know how to send one of them.
