New years eve, whats that about?

I know its a Saturday but its traditional for fixtures to be played on New Years day but this year its New years eve and we have Man City at home. The hardest day of the year to get off work if your unfortunate enough to be down to work it. Does anyone know why this has happened this year?

I'm home 15th to 28th, so delighted we got a Boxing Day home game, although i have awful memories of playing Everton on that date, admittedly it was at Goodison!

Might fly in via that London and try and get to the Spurs game, then drive up, i won't be going to QPR, i went to Loftus Road once, and could see about 40% of the ****ing pitch.

 

Its bizzare, I've never known it and I'm down to work new years eve but have new years day off. Gutted. It'd be terrible if I came down with something and couldn't go to work.

 

Sorry to intrude....its probably going to have something to do with TV rights. I'd imagine it would be on TV.

What time is K.O because, if its in the evening, they're asking for trouble.

 

It might have something to do with the fact eveyone is also playing Monday 2nd Jan

I believe its because New Years Eve is a Saturday (and not a Bank Hol) so there should be a game then, with the Bank Holiday game being moved to the Monday.

Although I am sure Sky will do whatever they fancy at ridiculously short notice anyway and shuffle them around before then.

 

I'm actually down to work dayshift on New Years Eve, and I've stuck a holiday in hoping that the triple time wages on offer will encourage someone to cover my shift.

 

Ill do it sod the game we will probably get battered anyway. Triple time sounds awesome all i get is time and a half (Scandalous)

 

Phuket probably or might have a few days in koh samui

 

Love Koh Samui spent my 25th wedding anniversary in Bankok Chang mai and a week on Koh Samui the hotels are great and the people are as well.
Never got a swap for my wife and got a thai bride though

 

Strange, but this fixture actually helps me out, usually have to go to the wifes sisters for the afternoon, normally cant get out of it, but being that I have great difficulty watching my team , due to work commitments, and living in Holland, plus the xmas factor, I recon Im on a winner, sorry about your situation, but you have brightened my day.,,,,,,,,nice one.

We are also away to Liverpool on new Year's Eve, nothing to do with SKY. It is because it's a Saturday, so it is a normal weekend game, when usually it is New Year's Day, because that is a bank holiday. So, the bank holiday game is the 2nd Jan.
