great selection of goals. you could probably see a good 10mins of footage with that quality of goal throughout. i'm not too sure when the first goal of that bunch was scored - '76? but it does make you think, the club formed in 1885 - there are a good 90 years of goals missing there, of which I guess 50 years of, will never have been seen more than once and only the once by those who played in and watched those matches!

Made me remember the first time I ever saw Saints live on TV aged 9 in 84. I was wearing a Liverpool shirt that someone gave me at school. think I swapped it for a James Bond Gun. lol Didn't support Liverpool as such. Just wanted to fit in and hadn't really followed football.

My Dad who is a pompey fan said Saints are on TV tonight (Think it was a Friday night) so I watched so I could talk about the game with all the other Liverpool supporters at school.

Then a certain Danny Wallace scored what was voted the goal of the season. The over head kick. The Liverpool shirt came off at that point and I said 'Dad I want a Southampton shirt' to which my Dad let out a gasp, a groan and you can guess he wished he'd never mentioned the game. lol

From there on I have always worn Saints shirts and taken the good comments and obviously the Southampton - Why? comments with pride. Watched the best academy in the world produce the best players and loved every minute of it.

5 years later I attended my first game at the Dell. Again it was Liverpool and again Saints won this time 4-1. Happy days.

The first few years of my footballing development were spent watching young Saints players such as Le Tiss, Danny, Rod Wallace, Shearer, Maddison, Kenna, Benali etc. Also the 2 Lincoln favourites Cockerill and Hobson :) Those were the days.....ermm I mean as well as these are the days. lol

I was stood in the Family Centre in the game Impsaint mentions above.

I was stood near the camera that used to be behind the goal and was on TV when the camera panned around to shoot the crowd.

It's a shame that there is no video of James Beattie's spectacular half volley from 45 yards at Sunderland about 10 years ago, it would surely get in the top 5 of all time Saints goals.

Not as good as his one at Stamford Bridge, and not technically as difficult as the one he scored against Leicester, albeit a good goal. However Benali's bullet header is missing.
