Trouble is it is all so subjective really, no point in trying to analyse like these numpties. Most influential film ever? I'd probably say "All Quiet On The Western Front", the original. In saying that, myself not being a fan of remakes, the one with John Boy Walton wasn't actually too bad an effort. I mean wow, just wow.
I take everything I read online with a large dose of salt. Only reputable thing you can trust online is Eddie's videos.
My fav film is A Bridge Too Far. That's where the Brits marched through the Netherlands killing Nazi scum. I now go to Arnhem through my interest in that film and watch Vitesse play at the Gelrodome. Weeds half price compared to the Dam too
Do you smoke weed Saffy? I thought you might have mentioned it by now already. Your story is unbelievably boring btw.
Do you mean "Friends of Dorothy", the polite nom de guerre of the lifters of shirts and munchers of rugs? If you look at it objectively I'd have to say the Wizard of Oz has to be up there as a cultural icon and the techniques used were very influential. It is easy to say any other film is more influential but looking at the wider context (use of images, music, themes etc) you'd be hard pressed to find another film which has been referenced by others as much as Oz has. I was surprised to see Lord of the Rings : The Two Towers figuring in the top ten most influential films. Love the Rings films to bits (Poove and *****, obviously) but I am not aware of many cultural or filmic references to it on other films. The books have certainly been an influence with an entire genre of other fantasy tales springing up afterwards but not sure about the fillums. It is probably the same for songs, if you did a most influential list I'd be surprised not to see The Beatles at or near the top whereas The Winker's Song by Ivor Biggun and the Red Nosed Burglars would struggle to get into the top 100.
Yep, that's why my username is 'Toby smokes weed' and I post about it every other post. I'm a character.
