An interesting bumper at Doncasted tomorrow and a case of sorts can be made for many. Nicholls has the best record of all these trainers and is 1/1 at the track so its understandable that his horse is the favourite. My enthusiasm is tempered for him because his dam ran only once in a p2p and was PU. Also his sales price was 30k as a foal and then 38k as a 3yo which hardly indicates a really thriving specimen. Emma Lavelle has an outstanding record at the track but connections only parted with 5k for their horse. The dam won a p2p which indicates a sterner test may suit. Similar comments can be applied to p2p winner Tribesmans Glory. The shortlist may not mean a huge amount but here goes; Dhowin hails from the yard that has this seasons best record in bumpers by far. These things can go in cycles, FOB last year, Hendo before and Greatrex before that. The owner isnt one to rush his horses but he does have the occasional winner and support would be significant. Big Nasty has a nice pedigree and also has a bumper winner in the line. The dam won over jumps and he is not easily passed over. Big Bad Bear was sold as a foal for 14.5k and again as a 3yo for 55k. He has obviously progressed well and I expect to see a very decent animal. There is not a huge amount to go on regarding pedigree but the yard are top drawer in bumpers. Again, support should be noted. Champagne Well has the most experience in the field and ran well on his bumper debut. The horse in front of him has been a beaten fav in a bumper since and like that one I think this boy possibly needs a trip. The one I am going for though is LANTIERN who ran with great credit on his debut at Ascot. The worry about the form of the race is that several of them finished close up today. The winner has since gone on to win a hurdle so I suspect the form is what you might expect from the track. There are winners in the pedigree, one in a bumper, and hopefully this one can add to the dams score. The yard have not been in the winners of late but they have all run close, they are due a change of luck.
3.00 Newbury - Momella- 6/1 Having her first run for Harry Fry after moving from the Skelton’s her season last year as an novice was very solid second to Ontheblindside (vision des flo and poetic rhythm behind her that day) then went on to win. a decent mares hurdle at cheltenham in December - missed the festival and reappeared at Aintree when 3rd to black op and lostintranslation (Ontheblindside way Down in the field that day) but that form looks very good. For what ever reason she moved and has had a wind op since she has moved, she looks very unexposed and Altho has to prove she will like the step up in trip everything says she will and even improve for it. Also I like the angle that Fry has put her in here rather than the handicap hurdle in the Saturday (which she would have bolted up off her current mark imo) means they must rate her highly and must be impressing her at home and especially to put her up against UKWIMH - the trainer will know what she is up against!
I like the look of Tribesman Glory at around 8s in this but I'm not having a bet today so will watch with interest. Hope yours goes in for you
Double wealth warning: No idea where my mate got these slow old plodders from as I am sure he does not know anyone associated with either yard. Newbury 2:25 – Willoughby Court According to the message, this will “win on the bridle”, so expect a photo finish! It won the preceding novice chase over course and distance last year. Newbury 3:00 – Sam Spinner Has finished behind Wholestone on his last two appearances and that one has a race fitness advantage.

The Lieutenant set to foray onto the level, on Wednesday, as Verdana Blue has an entry in a Listed race at Kempton. The ground has now gone against her in the NH sphere but an interesting entry nonetheless.
afternoon, fellas! donny,12 35: MERCIAN KING,peppay le pugh and get rhythm have already met once this season,at worcester, where the skelton horse just pevailed by a head to mercian king, with get rhythm a further 8 lengths adrift and well beaten.although theres not a lot between them at the weights,i expect mercian king to get the better off peppay le pugh today,as hes usually a consistent sort,so his last disappointing run shouldnt be viewed too harshly.big chance today.. newbury,12 45: i have to say,i am a bit surprised, that DELIRE D ESTRUVAL is as high as 12-1 in the betting, because his last win has been well franked by the first and second since, and he might have an experience edge today.good chance, theres more to come..
newbury,1 20: well, although this is a much deeper race for KATESON,and not easy with the penalty too,but he created a big impression at chepstow last time out,on his seasonal/hurdling debut, and can only progress further.serious horse,this..
had to work a bit harder there, but still a respectable effort.can go a long way.. newbury,1 50: this features the high-class mare LA BAGUE AU ROI,who has made the perfect start to her chasing career here a few weeks ago,and she meets her old rivals on better terms again,so no reason, why she wont score again today..
newbury,2 25: very open,as all have some sort of chance here, but BEGGARS WISHES appears to be on a steep upward curve, and though hit with a 10 lbr rise for his newton abbot win last time out, must be feared here..
newbury,3 00: SAM SPINNER is one of my big favourites, and if hes fit enough to do himself justice today, and he gets into a good rhythm early on,can run a massive race today..
Sir Barney .... bad news on CLAIMANTAKINFORGAN ... here’s a tweet from the owner Claimantakinforgan has unfortunately suffered a leg problem and may be out for the rest of the season. It is very frustrating as we had extremely high hopes for him this season. So now we know the answer to your mulling
Hard to say she would have definitely won but looked good and surely would have served it up to Harry
