If we get over a Mil for Nelson, that would be great work by the club. Just need him out of the club and off the wage bill. Any money would be a massive bonus.
More a suggestion than a rumour, but he could provide another option up front or out wide: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Callum_Hudson-Odoi Don't think it's likely though.
I was just reading that Bayern are looking at him. Also, He's a winger, is he not? Didn't know he could be used as a striker. https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footba...ayern-hold-interest-in-hudson-odoi_342775.htm
His Wiki profile says both, FML. Good EDP article about SW's transfer policy: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...ut-january-transfer-window-strategy-1-5799078
Fernando Llorente? https://soccersouls.com/2018/11/30/...a-bargain-would-be-a-fantastic-move-by-farke/
Cannot see any way we would be interested, either in price, likely salary or age. Just not going to be a SW type of target.
Nor me. Why would we engage in a bidding war with Leeds for an out of favour 33 year old? But it was out there, and so warrants inclusion on this thread (which aptly includes the word 'rubbish' in its title!) Things will get farrrr worse than this by late December, just wait and see.
I can think of a couple of reason Bid up the price so Leeds end up paying more than they otherwise would. Deflect attienton away from our real target.
Or we might need a replacement for Pukki? I don't see why we would be in the market for a striker at all unless we expect to lose one of our frontline 3. Pukki and Rhodes are both doing well. Even Srbeny has looked useful backup, but maybe a loan for him to get more footy? On the other hand I guess uptil January we have NO and even though he is out of the picture he is our most realistic 4th choice so if he goes then we need someone as a last resort. I would prefer to use Idah but it could be another justification? And I thought it was Webber's speciality to find and rejuvinate out of favour players? As a short term boost to our promotion chances, Farke may think he is a player to give us a short term boost for limited outlay. Perhaps in line with NO moneys. Bah!
We're still prone to this sort of rumour because of our past spending on older players. SW has said that we have no need to sell in January (see above). If silly PL money is offered we might be tempted to sell, but that would have to be balanced against prejudicing our chances of promotion. IMO, selling Pukki would end our chance of promotion, particularly if the replacement is someone like Lorente.
I see what you're saying but, silly money might come in for him, struggling PL sides and others around europe might see his goal scoring and fancy a punt. Every season clubs pay over the odds in despiration in January. Pukki was on record as saying he had other more lucrative options but chose to join City. That appears to have been a wise move, because surely his value/stock has risen and now might get his big PL pay day. It is not beyond comprehension that that was his aim all along. We may have a good thing going on at the moment, but a double (Or more) your money offer and he might just say 3-4 years at £40k pw, see ya guys. As with Pritchard, I doubt the club would stand in his way. I do think though that if Webber and Farke both think Lorente would fit then I would back the decision (OK I wouldn't do it, but I think they would only do so on the clubs terms and I trust to that) and remain optimistic that we would have the fire power to stay the course. Rhodes is chomping at the bit and as I said Srbeny is also looking a decent option from the bench. Bah!
Two excellent posts and I remember reading that Pukki CHOSE to come to NCFC, despite other offers and as you say General, his aim could well have been to prove himself with a view to getting a move with a bigger pay cheque in January, as i would imagine several clubs would love to have him leading their line. We can be certain that SW will play 'hardball' and get a decent price for him. There's NO loyalty in any sport!!! I'm NOT convinced that if he leaves we can say goodbye to promotion, as JR has scored a few goals in the limited playing time he's had and other players are scoring goals. If Bendy leaves ........
On loan, with Spurs covering a lot of his salary, is the only way he ends up at Carrow Road. But like the General says, Webber has so far earned my trust in the transfer market. If he wants Llorente, then fair enough. I can't see it myself.
SW having said that we don't need to sell would mean we'd be breaking up a winning team for the sake of the money on offer. If Pukki was in it for the money, he wouldn't have chosen us. He came to us to prove himself in English football and he is doing just that. If he knocks in 20 goals this season and we miss out on promotion, his value and potential wages would be far higher in the summer. IMO, we're getting into speculating about an FLW blog speculative rumour. There's no mention of our interest in Lorente, just that the blogger thinks it might be a good idea. Piffle, I say (and maybe a 'bah' thrown in for good measure!).
