Same. Some of me, albeit a small bit, actually wants more overpriced, yet worse footballers in our team. A very small bit mind you.

Are you going to make me put the pictures of Tiote and Guthrie up again? English ****ing grit, useful to keep the paths clear of snow on the walk past Gallowgate, but only because its cheaper than importing no doubt superior Norwegian grit...

They already have food in them. They only fast during the day and daylight hours, but they're allowed to eat at night.

    <doh><doh><doh>

This 'The Grim Reaper' twat is getting on my nerves as well. Just seems to be acting like a prat in every thread. It pisses me off even moreso when these guys are brand new members and take it upon themselves to act like bellends.

The way i see it this isn't going to be tiote vs barton this is going to be tiote & cabaye vs barton. if those too play with a cool head they can minimise the amount of impact barton will have on the game. he'll try and get involved but they use the ball just as well as he does and he could be left chasing shadows if tiote is somewhere near his best. I'd expect that to be the case seeing as ramadan will have been finished for over a week or so by the time we next play so he won't be playing on an empty stomach.

He called him ****? If so that is very poor from Barton. I'd only seen comments relating to him being unproven in the PL (I couldn't understand all the fuss, he isn't proven) but if Barton has actually called him **** that is not on.

As for Barton v Tiote. Depends which Tiote turns up. If its early this season Tiote you'd have to expect Barton to give him a hard time. I suspect though that Cheick will be in much better condition by the time this game comes around. You have to take into consdieration that he missed the finishing touches to his pre season. Barton will be tough opposition as he is in great form but he has to settle into a new system with new teammates. Should be a really good battle between two cracking players. Its just a shame they are not helping each other rather than trying to outdo each other!

We'll see exactly how comfortable Santon will be on the left if SWP plays. He only has one real move and that is to shift it outside the full back and go. It'll be a good test of Santon.

from what i've seen of santon hes no slouch either so i can't see him being murdered for pace.
As for barton i can see his ego getting him into bother with his team mates down there. he likes to tear a strip off people if they're not pulling there weight and if someone new comes in and starts doing it straight away then he'll end up putting peoples noses out of shape. he won't have the qualtiy surrounding him that he's accustomed to which will see him playing in a very frustrated fashion a lot of the time.

Imagine if him and Taraabt are both in a bad mood and Clint Hill steps in to break them up.

I don't think Barton will have too many problems. Take Twitter away and he has been a good pro over the last two years. He is a good player and a winner. Others players tend to respect players who have that drive and will to win. The players at Newcastle seemed to like him and have no problem with him. He wouldn't suffer fools but that is probably one of the reasons you buy him, to drive up standards.

I have a feeling that Barton may do something silly in this game. He's an emotional guy and I would not be surprised if his emotions do not get the better of him.
I would also imagine that a few of the new signings might feel that they have something to prove to Barton, so it could be interesting.

Would Barton celebrate if he scored?

i think it would be muted. personally. can only see him scoring a penalty and i'm sure their usual taker would have a whinge as i can see barton wanting to take it regardless of who's supposed to.

FYI: Santon made his Inter debut in January 2009. Since that time he played 53 times for Inter, had 11 games on loan at Cesena, 12 games for Italy U-21 and 7 times for the full Italian team. Thus making 83 appearances since 2009. His honours as thus: Serie A (2): 2008–09, 2009–10
    Coppa Italia (1): 2009–10
    UEFA Champions League (1): 2009–10
    Supercoppa Italiana (1): 2010
FIFA Club World Cup (1): 2010

In that time Joseph Barton has made 61 appearances. Never won a major trophy.

    Football League Championship (1): 2009–10
    Teresa Herrera Trophy: Winner: 2010

    1 cap for England.

It would certainly help us if he did, but he has generally come out on top in these stakes of late (Gervinho/K Henry etc etc). I think both he and our players will be fully aware of the situation, and I'd imagine they'll all be at it in terms of wind ups. He has certainly help us with the team talk re: our unproven prem players. I think Santon may feel the need to prove a point following the "unproven" comments, but I have no problem with Barton making those comments and Santon does has to prove himself. I do have a problem if Barton has called him **** though as it was suggested earlier in this thread. That, if true, is poor and inaccurate on Bartons part. Must admit though I can't find any comments? Twitter perhaps?

All in all it has some added spice and should make for a good fixture. I couldn't see Barton celebrating if he scored, I think he found the whole situation with ourselves difficult and wanted to stay on. I think he was grateful to the fans after he was given a 2nd chance by them. Equally if he does want to celebrate I have no problem with that. He is at a new club now and needs to concentrate on them and because of his poor treatment by the board he may fancy sticking two fingers up. Hopefully we won't get the opportunity to find out!

I stand corrected! I don't know where I heard that he'd played so many times, must have just made it up.

I'll have no problem with Barton if he just shuts up from now on. Took me a long time to warm to the guy from his past bad behaviour and average start to his NUFC career. Then he had a blinding year last time and gradually won me over. Have a bad feeling he'll score against us though!

So you're saying not being able to eat before and after a game wouldn't affect their performance? You knew fine well what I meant by that post and even wrote essays on the mackem board arguing that very same point. Dont make me bring up the article and make you to look like even more a tosser than you are already becoming.

Every post from you now reminds me of some drivvle that I would expect from Tash, at least the WUMS sometimes have something interesting to say.

I too think it's hilarious. So unproven he's already won all that with a champions league team <laugh>
