You also have to accept that Keita came on and had very little impact. Fabinho also is a work in progress so what's the answer? We can't overhaul every position, it takes time. Imo both Fabinho and Keita will improve and be part of our midfield next season but right now we need performances from what we have. Milner tries and at times can be very good Wijnaldum need a half time bollocking every game and Hendo just isn't up to it.
I agree - I was hoping both would come straight in and deliver when in reality, it’s not as easy. However, can it be any worse than having to revert back to the same midfield trio last night which has now lost the last 5 away CL games? And it’s not just Fab and Keita - what about Shaq? I just feel that klopp needed to take a risk.
On a positive - - Alisson was really good - We only need to win 1-0, or if Napoli score, then we have to win by 2 clear goals. I’ll take our chances ...
Tbh that's a small bit unfair to Keita. He did have an impact but team was out on its feet then. If fabinho had been playing he's have been destroyed last night.
He's a good player that's clear but just not quite ready and we may as well play him to get him up to speed. Fabinho will be fine but not this season I'd only play him at home against lower teams right now.
2:0, 3:1, 4:2, against Napoli at Anfield is going to do the job. We can do it with the help of the croud.
Well that was absolute dog ****e. We've been ****ing dreadful this campaign and left ourselves with a mountain to climb. We didn't know how to handle them. It's getting a bit ****ing predictable, but it wasn't helped by a referee who couldn't officiate a barn dance and ****ing Neymar surely has epilepsy or something, he couldn't stay on his feet. I don't think we deserve to go through really.
We didn’t deserve anything from that game as we were really poor. At Anfield we just have to start well. And keep our nerve. Scoring early and stop napoli from scoring. A 1-0 might do but high risk to play for one.
a) kieta yes not ready but was windy ready as he hid? at least he wanted ball and got on it. you will note the second he came on 2 men were on him and constantly fouled h in. b) you've just agreed with me on fabinho. he would have been destroyed last night
Not a great result but I have faith we can beat napoli by 2 if needed. Though should we go out and into the europey id like us to take it seriously and try to win it. We need a trophy
Europa league could have Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and us in it in a couple weeks. Reminds me of when we got to the final and how tough that campaign was
For me.... this campaign already looks like a failure. We are second somehow but the reality is unless something changes we are going to just fall a bit off city over the next month and never get this close again. I have called out firmino and got savaged for it but my god last night he was so poor on the ball. Not the off the ball stuff it was the play on the ball that got me. I have called out henderson several times in the past but it never changes. He started for maybe 6-7 minutes with split CBs and him standing right between them. he just started wandering forward and was constantly ball watching after letting our friend neymar go. he just got in behind cavani and hid there happily. I've called out lads like lallana for freezing in big games but windy absolutely froze last night. he wasn't even close to the ball. Lets call a spade a spade here. the defenders didn't play that bad but when you are that exposed its virtually impossible to look good. Alisson did his job and gets plaudits but the defenders didn't do awful. The midfield was non existant. the forwards have it tough sure, mane did better than slaah. firmino let himself and the team down on the ball. My strong view is still this is all about midfield inability to get on the ball and use it. there is a real lack of desire to get on it and use it. When we compare us to PSG... no contest. Compare us to City.. silva etc.. no comparison. I'm sad baout this. So much promise but the teams just not right at all. Theres not really any possibility to change this imo. Klopp's tried quite a lot
Great graphic skills there Jimmy... but I agree with you just not good enough the whole midfield went missing again.
Fabinho has only been ‘destroyed’ in one game, and that was against Arsenal... And you do realise Fabinho has bossed PSG in the past? ...
