Hello guys been a while since i posted here! I like one at kempton in the 6.30 the horse is Nautical Haven currently 40/1 on betfair i see.....Heres hoping lol
Can see why you like him but bloody hell thats brave backing a horse this early on coming out the best yard!!
Kalahari Queen 3/1 up at ayr , gets weight off the fav ,but has the ability to ruffle the jolly . Storm Control was fancied at carlisle last time but didn't fire , runs in a handicap at warwick 10/1 Tom Lacey unleashing another bumper winner ?
As usual I had a good long look at the bumper last night and it was my conclusion that L'INCORRIGIBLE was the one. Comes from a dam that has produced three winners including the smart Cosmeapolitan. One of her three winners won a bumper and taking into account yard bumper form, current form and track form then I feel the Tom Lacey horse is the most likely winner. Henderson has the favourite but for me the flat pedigree looks like this one will struggle to see out the trip. I wonder if there is a back story to this one as I am surprised that it would have been purchased with bumpers in mind. Alan King has a fine record in bumpers and at the track and he saddles two. Arkyn has had a run and I think will appreciate the softer ground. I prefer the pedigree of his other entry Perfect Predator but he doesnt strike me as one to be ready first time up. A couple of interesting ones at bigger prices for small stakes EW players. Firstly, Noble Saffron (25/1)who shaped quite encouragingly on debut having being given a nice introductory ride. He could be ready to improve on his second start. The big negative is that the yard simply do not have bumper winners. The other one is the John Ryan trained Dont Think So (100/1). The yard dont often send horses out in bumpers but they have an excellent record when they do. It is quite eyecatching that they have booked Paddy Brennan for the ride. That said its debut run was simply awful so maybe Mr Ryan just likes getting good jockeys for his no hopers. Conclusion; L'INCORRIGIBLE win NOBLE SAFFRON small ew NON RUNNER
A mere 10 from the notebook run today. Most of which seem well supported. Need to squirrel off and see which ones take my fancy!
Was in training with Clive Cox prior to the move to Seven Barrows. Agree though that Twist (we all know what we will be crooning if this one obliges, don’t we regular readers?!? What, what!) does have a very Flat pedigree. Although what a bally pedigree, albeit it at much shorter distances – half sister to the Group winner Queen Catrine and the dam is a half-sister to Group 1 winner, Tamarisk. Current quotes of 7/4 are very, very short though. I too am an admirer of old boy Tom Lacey who incidentally has stated that his recent Ascot Bumper winner, Hazzaar, will be aimed at the Grade 1 Tolworth with a debut run over hurdles prior to this. Re his L’incorrigible the Lieutenant used to train his half-brother (Carabinier) who he won 3 heats with.
Cheers Barney. I knew if anyone was going to know it would be you. Obviously too backward for the flat and I wouldnt mind taking a punt that it is still as green as the Highbury turf today. Carabinier went off favourite for both his bumpers and was pretty well beaten. Another half-brother, Jubalani, did win his though.
Can you no longer say then that you have backed one simply because it’s the filly with the loveliest name? I await clarification from the powers that be… Incidentally, I was most distressed to see that the Lieutenant has a mare, in his ranks, monikered Loveherandleaveher (ironically owned by the same chap who owns today’s much debated animal, Twist – now that is a lovely name for a gelding). Not a lovely name for a mare, methinks. In fact I was so shocked I had to go and lie down in the sick bay for half an hour.
Of course the most reliable strategy for picking winners is, of course, horses named after Corrie characters
Done 10 patents today between us, and a very very modest e/w single. All with skybet BOG.
