We are being linked with this scumbag. I don't want him as I think he's crap and is massively over paid and isn't worth the trouble. I hope Sven stays well clear of him http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/tra...ers-striker-El-Hadji-Diouf-article795072.html
Strangely i do think he is a good player...BUT and it is a big but, he is the nastiest player on the pitch ever! Quite simply putting Diouf in the same changing room as Beckford is going to cause problems!
It must have been great for you to bask in the sunlight for a few months with a club that has fans...Sorry the transfer merry go round is over and you must reitre to gates of just over 10,000 - laughable!
I dont undertand what he does for a team. He doesn't score goals or create. Cant attack or offers nothing defensively he has a bad attitude aswell and will alway cause trouble every where he has been. No thanks and there are better player out there
As dawn broke over the dump that is bristol.............the realisation has set in that an almighty fookup has occured....like a drunk with hangover, they will be wondering, where did all the bleeding money go? what have we done....
He will just join up with Big Sam again , let West Ham deal with him. If its out of contract players we are looking at at the minute i wouldnt mind having a look at Alan Smith (released by Newcastle) in a strikers role again. Unless he has gone somewhere else or retired and i have missed it ?
He has been playing in midfield for years and done nothing except foul people. We have enough mids and Smith is over rated. Apart from with Leeds he has never done anything in his career
OK, so Diouf may not be the most morally palatable human being we could possibly go after, and he does of course have a very questionable past. But is that really a valid reason not to go after him if he is available? We've signed people who have done arguably worse things in the past, such as a certain Mr Collymore. And we don't know whether the things Diouf has done in the past, such as the spit, were provoked or not. And let's not forget that this guy was the star of a world cup less than 10 years ago, and has cost in excess of £10m as well, so he would certainly have something to offer the team at this level. Would I rather have him ahead of someone like Townsend on loan? No, because Townsend would bring much needed pace. But you can't really doubt that, on that right wing, we haven't really got anyone as good as Diouf, especially with Gally drifting in and out of form. If we did choose to sign him (and I personally don't think we will), he would have to be on a short-term deal with a basic rule; Behave yourself otherwise you won't get a longer contract. And besides, I'm sure Wellens and Mills would keep him in line as well. Just a thought anyway, sometimes the red mist of his misdemeanours can overshadow what may or may not be a very good football based decision.
Beating your sorry team along the way though But yeah, maybe dioufie can parnter your striker maynard up front?????
Actually, I can see what he means now, Diouf needs plenty of fans readily available to spit at. If he was playing at Ashton Gate he might work up a greeny, turn around and there'd be non one there. Imagine his disappointment.
Well if we're talking about football decisions alone, there's also the issue of team spirit, and a worry about him causing problems in the dressing room.
