I’d probably say Barca to beat PSV. That guarantees them top and then so long as we beat Inter, there may be a chance of facing a very much rotated side at the Nou Camp.
Judging by their standards that might make it even more difficult if it's a team trying to prove itself.
Yeah there’s definitely that possibility but I think I’d still rather face that than another Messi masterclass like what I witnessed at Wembley. That was so bittersweet for me, for years I’ve wanted to see him play live and yet the one time I did he absolutely destroyed us.
You're right, of course, without him it would have been an even game. It's easy to forget the level Spurs have reached, we are really only one or two world class players away from the the top level.
For sure, what Poch has done has been nothing short of amazing when considering the financials he’s had in comparison to others. It’s why I think this window more than any, Levy has to really back him with a player (or two) that Poch really wants, not a cheap alternative like we’ve seen in the past or no one at all. We’re so close to being at that “next level”, would be a travesty if we let that slip by.
We have been at that crossroads for a few transfer windows now...I won't hold any hope that Levy will see what we are seeing.
I'm keeping the faith, mate. There's no way we'll go a whole year without a signing, especially as Poch has actually said this time around that signings are needed to freshen things up. Pre-summer he spoke of "taking risks" but I don't think he specifically said "signings" per se (although we all knew what he meant), he's laid the gauntlet this time. Season 5B of Vikings starts tonight in the states by the way, I'm torrenting that **** tomorrow. Trailer looks sick, looks like Ivar goes up ten levels of crazy, lol.
I hope you are right...you going to start asking questions of Levy if he doesn't back Poch? I'm waiting for the whole series to finish...I love binge watching it...too addictive one, episode not enough
I generally agree but PSV beating Barca is our only way through if Inter beat PSV and we don't have a better head to head against Inter. If we beat Inter 1-0 or by two goals it doesn't matter. But if we win by one goal other than 1-0 then if Barca lose tonight, any win at Barca gets us through (because all three teams would have 10 points and Barca and us have the best records excluding the PSV results).
Tough to say, I do like Levy but it'd be hard to find a way to understand as to why he hasn't backed his manager for a whole year. He'd need to explain himself that's for sure. Wish I could wait that long but for someone that don't even really watch TV, I'm too addicted to this show to be able to wait ten more weeks, lol.
As for the one or two players to take us to the next level. Has been true for a couple of years now but the question isn't will Poch get the money from Levy; The question IMO is WHO???!!! are those players?
It's confusing but I'm banking on the idea of us hopefully playing like men possessed tonight (a la Chelsea) and beating Inter by a solid margin. The lads have too really. Then I'd like to think if Barca seal top spot tonight, our game then won't be important to them and could hopefully lead to a glory glory away night.
Like I say...he's done a great job off the pitch and to an extent on it but I won't be able to forgive him if he let's this opportunity pass us by. He's the custodian of our club...under his watch we have managed to get to where we are with the next step being the obvious one...it's his job to deliver before the ship sails
I don't think this is true if we beat Inter 3-2 or similar. We could both end up with 10 points and they would have a better head to head as away goals count double.
For sure, even just the notion of trying I can accept, I'm aware not all signings pay off, we've seen our fair share but standing still like we did in the summer means we'll never know what might have been if we don't try. Poch and the lads have done great so far to remain competitive despite all rivals strengthening, it's now time for us to strengthen and really give things a go.
CM for me remains a problem, Sissoko's form over the last month or so has meant that we haven't felt too short in the position but it's still a position we need big improvements in. As for who exactly, I've made no secret of the fact I'd love to have Frenkie de Jong, being someone who watches Ajax every now and then (hence why I wanted Eriksen back in the day), whenever I see him play I just think he'd be perfect for Tottenham, reminds me a lot of a young, raw Modric. There's others though, Rabiot of PSG, Ndombele of Lyon, Milinkovic-Savic of Lazio. Any of those would improve our CM ten fold. None will be cheap (well, maybe except Rabiot who's deal is running down) but then we're at a stage where we could do with some proven, already-made quality and for that, we have to pay.
