There are still a lot of races left this season, and the teams are now beginning to run out of fresh engines. Given the history of Adrian Newey's cars, it is safe for us to assume that red bull will eventually have a DNF or two, leaving the door open for Vettels title rivals to gain a few points on him. We have italy next week, where McLaren, Ferrari and (possibly) Mercedes could all finish in front of Red Bull. Then we have circuits such as singapore and Abu Dhabi, where the McLaren's mechanical grip will give them a real shot at victory. The only remaining circuits that i can see Red Bull winning unchallenged on are Suzuka and Interlagos. There is still a title fight, don't give up on this season just yet.

Why? Red Bull will falter again, you mark my words. I've never heard of a car designed by adrian newey remain mechanicly sound for an entire season. They will have reliability issues, it's just a matter of time until it happens.

Dont see it happening, for a few reasons.

First off there is the other "contenders".

Webber - "only" 92 points behind, but it Vettels team mate. The kind of dramatic drop off from Red Bull we need would affect him to (and thats without mentioning team orders). No Hope.

Alonso - 102 points behind. Ferrari are currently slower than red bull and have moved development to next season. Needs to make up 4 wins in a slower car. No Hope.

Button and Hamilton - 110 and 113 points. Quick enough car now but so many points behind. Unrealistic.

Sorry to be a joykill, but there never really has been a title battle this year.

You're having a Steffi Graff... though if you're right.. I'll take my hat (and Alan Grundy's) off to ya.

This is why I believe that the RB7 is Newey's finest work to date. Not only is the car supremely quick in a variety of circuit types... It is phenomenally reliable. (as is the Renault compared to recent years.) Once the evolution of this car comes to an end, we may see Red Bull slip back a bit due to reliability, and it may be a couple of seasons before we see Vettel dominating again.

On saying that though... I could be completely wrong. This could be Newey at the top of his game and he may build world beaters for years to come. Can't wait to find out. :)

unless vettel scores 3-4 dnfs, the others have got no chance at all, also bear in mind that red bull have been 100% reliable.

The only way Vettel will lose the title is if he gets injured and misses a few races.

Vettel can finish 4th in the next seven races and still win the title.

Red Bull have a fresh engine to spare, unlike Ferrari and McLaren I believe.

I can understand if there was 20 - 40 points but the guy has a gap of nearly 100.

Yes but these car's are pretty much bulletproof now, I believe no title contender out of Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull apart from JB in Germany has had a mechanical problem in a race.

Somehow *again* it's looking like only Seb can get these mechanical failures and everybody else cant anymore, when did that happen?

People speculate that it's only a matter of time until it does and that the odds increase at every passing GP. In contrast when other drivers gets DNF's that's his lot for the year because somehow it wont happen again.

Said it before around Canada and I'll say it again, his DNF chances are as good as anybody's, either he does or he doesn't. 12-13 races without a major problem and yet people say it's only a matter of time, keep waiting then...

Can't seeing it happening. He could have 2-3 retirements and he'd still be the favourite

    Mathematically possible? Yes. Realistically? No.
Even if Vettel somehow gets sent to hospital for the last seven races, he'd still be the favourite. :(

Vettel can still be beaten and I can still pull Kirsten Dunst.

Both scenarios are still 99% impossible. I see Vettel getting roughly 7 more podiums this year. As for pulling Kirsten Dunst.....

how many points did vettel score last season? just wondering if he already has scored enough to clinch it. is anyone likely to score enough points even if vettel dnf every race.

the fact that all his rivals are taking points off each other makes it virtualy certain vettel already has won it.

The only way we will have a championship fight is if the FIA finds out that Vettel has somehow cheated and takes all his points off him :D
