Only thing I didn't get on the sub, was if he's being brought on for pens, why is he taking the sixth penalty? Still, on the positive, I thought we played and defended very well that game, for what it's worth. There were a lot of positives (not least the play of Valery).
I’m going to take the positives out of a game for once. He was bold enough to make some changes, we actually looked like a team for once and there are actually signs of improvement in the last couple of games. If Ings was fit, we win that game.
This has confirmed my recent assertion that Hughes is an unlucky Manager and we desperately need a lucky one right now....
Yeah. I mean, I don't really rate him as a manager, but the problems at the club are faaaaaaar deeper than just him. I think we played well tonight and I don't think bringing in Big Sam, Lee Johnson or whatever is going to make too much difference.
And if the freekick had been 2cm lower, not sure we can call out Hughes on this game. It would seem missing a golden chance and a dubious decision has done us
We missed a trick not getting Smith before villa got him IMO. Genuinely a young, forward thinking coach who has made an instant impact. I’m sure there will be more out there like him - I’m sure of it! I haven’t paid enough attention to European/lower footy this year to suggest any names though
