Its very obvious why firmino is the one shunted to 10 and the one moved last year everytime a player was rested. left site, right side, no 10.... klopp uses firmino as the guy who iwll do some sort of a job anywhere. Lets call a spade a psade here. Jimmy claims 4231 is the way to go and klopp has the players. The reality is: a) klopps already said he plays a weird formation as he called all 3 of his forwards midifelders b) salah is simply not a no 9 striker.. he just is not. c) at our best firmino mane and salah are free to interchange and find their natural space and just cause mayhem for teams trying to mark them. Tell one guy to stick on one position and you get what we got v red star away. He glued mane to right wing for 30mins and the guy did nothing. 4231 requires two wider forwards sticking wide. d) irrespective of formation the midfielders still have to get on ball, want it, demand it and control game not crab pass and back pass and play with their back to opponents. Its very clear to me klopp has an issue this season. The midfielders he bought are not ready to play, he is also lacking control and balance in the centre with ox out and coutinho gone. Shaqiri was his reserve forward who is now played as we've lost the midfield. We have 3 no 6s and two of them won't even pass the ball forward unless totally free in space.... does that mean we move 3 players around (front 2 especially) to accomodate fabinho? Hardly in my view. If we get keita functioning then IMO this 4231 stuff will go back out the window.
I support Klopp fully and I think he's doing a great job generally, but I don't know what he's up to with this one. Surely it's obvious to all that Firmino's best position is No. 9, false 9, CF, whatever bollocking bullshit name they want to give it - but up front and in the middle?
its patently obvious. all we are seeing right now is shaqiri quite far up, sometimes on right sometimes in firminos position. Salah up up mane deep on left.. all quite static really then 2 donkey's in midfield back passing to the cbs who then launch it at salah. rinse and repeat til a **** side makes an error and we might get the ball forward. Put in milner and he seems to want to play CM likes he's a winger, get really winger and hang around. The chips are down this midweek lets see what formation is picked. I'll be that if he's got fully fit players milner henderson and windy will start and it'll be 433
