This year has been imo quite a step worse than even last year. Now Halloween is largely just blown through with cheap sweets and the decorations for that were poor and gone early and Christmas was in full flow that week. I feel its just weeks earlier now. This black Friday and cyber Monday ****e has certainly shifted us earlier too.
It's different for me because I am religious so I actually get a spiritual uplift but all the commercial stuff is well and truly out of hand.
I'm not religious but I respect that - it's the relentless commercialism that does my head in. The religious side of it is all but buried under an avalanche of adverts for stuff few of us need or want.
It seems to be the way of the world now. Religious festivals (Christmas and Easter) along with occasions that involve a religious aspect e.g. weddings and christenings, are having the religious bit either pushed aside or hurried along to get to 'the party' bit. Consumerism gone mad!
