Likely replacements. I said it an age ago, when Saints were looking to replace RK. David Moyes. He kept WHU up last season, had plenty of good seasons with Everton. The Manchester United job was beyond his level, whilst he bombed at Real Sociedad and Sunderalnd when his confidence was at a low ebb. Others who might be hired: Bruce, Sam, Leicester´s ex. I would not be averse to seeing Kelvin Davis being given the job.
Sounds like Hughes is staying then. Wonder if the time being given will take us through January when we sign nobody?
I'd hate to see SKD's legend tarnished myself, remember Unsworth at Everton? and he has had probably more experience than Kelv.
He’s not going tomorrow then, and they can’t expect anything in the next two games, so I wonder which game it’s riding on. The Cardiff game on the 8th December? The Huddersfield game on the 22nd? If we still haven’t won a game by then surely there’s no justification for giving him time to turn it around. I should hope they are working on whose available behind the scenes now, but given that they were apparently taken by surprise when they had to sack MP2 and quickly had to find a manager in March...because the warning signs weren’t there from November..., I don’t have a great deal of confidence that we’re seriously planning for a change yet.
The next man has to have had good experience in England and be young(ish), forward thinking and good with bringing through youth players.... ...No, not Poch...
Then how about my choice, Mikel Arteta. He was pretty much about to get the Arsenal job before their board had a last minute change of heart.
From Wilson's latest: We're really convinced that having a large number of mediocre players that we cannot offload is a positive, aren't we.
I did think to myself, damn, they still have seemingly failed to grasp that the manager isn’t our only problem. We clearly don’t have the good kind of depth and we clearly don’t have the quality. I do agree that we should be doing better, even with what we’ve got, not miles better, but flirting with rather than main contender for relegation. I hope that’s what they mean. Our recruitment has been terrible, they can’t not realise that.
What’s the pointing in waiting for the inevitable? We won’t beat Man United or Spurs so just try and get someone in before the Cardiff game. (I’m not counting the Leicester game in the cup).
Again a great point made. A great point made. The recent recruitment has been appalling and just changing the guy on the touchline won't change that!
SFC are in an unfortunate position compared to London clubs who have first choice on the vast pool of talent on their doorstep. Having said that SFC have managed to get the youthful talents of players from the NE (Shearer and Graham Baker), London (Steve Williams and the Wallace brothers) so maybe SFC need to step up their London operations.
