Make it the new roker end and put standing back in there and take the roof off for when it is pissing down, and being shoved down the steps when we scored I miss those days ! it was huge mind when I starting going in the late 1970's, a bloke would stand putting the scores on the score board at half time A, B, C etc teams names would correspond on your programme plus Motty sitting on/in the clockstand roof freezing doing the commentary.
To commemorate 100 years since the end of WW1 What about the Charlie Buchan stand. Record league goalscorer and WW1 hero and survivor of the Somme, Cambrai and Passchendale.
Or for similar reasons, Leigh Richmond Roose, noted footballing eccentric who died at the Somme aged 38. Lots of clubs, especially big European ones, mythologise players from their distant pasts (Giuseppe Meazza, Santiago Bernabeu Yeste, the entire 1949 Torino team) and use it to add to the aura of the club and to connect the fans. We've got a rich enough history to do something similar.
Agreed. He’s definitely the first name that should be up there on either the East orWest stand. He’s done an awful lot more than just build the stadium, too. Then we have to go a long way back to a Raich Carter or Len Shackleton
The Roker End for me, when we get back in the Prem [and we will with these boys in charge] i will look forward to the commentators saying [listen to the noise of that crowd] it's the roker roar.
