In the Man City documentary there is a scene with him and his staff talking about us while they are playing Everton. It has been reported that City have asked for the Liverpool result on a number of occasions this season. I would say he is definitely concerned
Yes tested their resolve, he has been their best midfielder for the last two years, then they went out and bought a direct replacement. Since jorginho has signed for them kante is now played on the right (i think) and is looking alot more ineffective.
Stranger things have happened, who could forsee benitez having his little meltdown, he seemed completely unflappable. It shows how dangerous pep thinks we are by how they played at anfield, I've never seen him set up so conservative before
We're supposedly their closest rivals for the title so of course they'll mention or keep a eye on us. That doesn't mean they are rattled. Come the end of the season, I think they'll be a good 10pts ahead regardless.
Never believed that to be a meltdown. He was calm and collected. He was frustrated but not rattled imo. Plus, we went on a fantastic run of results after that too. Undefeated in something like the remaining thirteen games.
Not quite how I remember it, he wasn't ranting or raging but it showed a chink in his demeanor, we drew the next four matches afterwards. First against Wigan. I've just read a few articles by the players and rather than bouy them up it made them feel like tits, the utd players on the other hand loved it.
Maybe so but you don't go onto a football pitch thinking about what happened elsewhere. Any player claiming otherwise is using it as a cop out.
How can you explain how he set up in cl last year and the 0-0 this year then? There are plenty of quotes suggesting pep has had a serious bad reaction to us trouncing his lot. If he played his tactics he plays against everyone else against us they would have mullered us this year. He came to not lose.
I think this has been kept quiet because they’ve been going along nicely, after tonight’s result I fully expect to finally see people asking why the **** the best holding/defensive midfielder on the planet isn’t playing in that position!
For me if sarri wants to have his playmaker sit deep and pull strings then thats his right. Sarri doesn't want a destructive player in front of the back 4 so Chelsea fans need to back the man.
I don't think jorginho is a creative player though is he, he's in a similar mould to kante just not as good. I may be mistaken but I thought he was very much a defensive midfielder rather than a deep playmaker.
It also gives them a chance of getting the ball back higher up the pitch whilst still having a good ball winner and great move starter behind him.
He is the one always available, always moving the ball. He's a passer and sarri brought him with him. Put it this way he tapped him up to stop him going to city so if pep wanted him...... Kante is the king of interceptions. Runs all day, reads where to be and just breaks up moves by getting the ball off teams.
I bow to your superior knowledge, thought he was another DM, strange though to mess with kante to fit the lad in.
Bollocks lad, the psychological effects can be huge, just looking at the effect that confidence has on a team is easy to see. If you think your boss has lost the plot, it will effect the way you play. **** me we where top of the table, Rafa has his little press conference and three weeks later we where third, drawing with the might of Wigan and Everton twice along the way
