I only got in to see the last few minutes so cannot judge, but the commentator said the result was extremely harsh on Watford.
Yes - funny thing was they probably had more shots in the first half than 2nd. The 3 chances Liverpool after the break were converted. As I say Foster was a bit unlucky - Salah's shot just went under his legs whilst the 3rd came after a break away and parried shot. Free kick was a good strike although maybe left that side open a bit too much. Having said that we didn't create too much ourselves.
Just got around to being up and about. Bad result, decent performance my Scouzer mates tell me from us. Over and out, back on it soon, putting a lamb in the ground tonight for a real party and Mexican Barbacoa.
Having seen it on MOTD, jerzeypie thinks it might have also gone through Cathcart's legs, giving Foster less reaction time.
There was contact so Moss should’ve seen it. Why no yellow for Hughesy if no pen given? What’s the lino doing for their first? No idea why he waits so long to put the flag up. I think he wasn’t sure and maybe Moss called it over the radio.
I see cheeky b*stard Andrew Robertson questioning yesterday why Hughes wasn’t booked when he, and all the TV evidence/pundits to back it up, know there was contact.
The expected goals stat suggested 0.65 vs 1.45, so Liverpool beating us by about a goal. That seems much more reflective of the match as a whole. Having said that, if we get the penalty (and maybe a red card for raking his studs down Hughes's shin) its a different game.
VAR if in use would have given a penalty I suspect. Mind you the commentator on MOTD thought Hughes went down easily... Not much we can do about it now - hopefully get an iffy in another game.
MOTD seemed to indicate that Liverpools first goal should not have been given because Mane was offside when the ball was passed to him However that did not seem to matter as the build up was so superb because because of the run by a player who should have been sent for the tackle on Hughes had that been clearly outside the Penalty Area it would have been a fee kick and a booking Robertson is certainly a true Liverpool footballer, how dare inferior teams and players have the gall to try and prevent the greatest club and team in the Galaxy win every trophy they play for Thats the reason I hate them, plus all the games they won by blatant cheating against us in the eighties
I've seen the Hughes incident a number of times and I have yet to convince myself there was any contact and at the time thought there was a bit of a dive and Hughes was lucky not to get booked. I didn't think Mane was offside either. So I either need new glasses, bigger telly or my support of Watford could be called into doubt and I will be banished from this blog.
With the name of one of our greatest heroes associated with you you cannot be banished. But if that is the way you saw it I'll accept it. And I'm sure it evens out over the season as they say. Actually I think the ref had a pretty good game..
What "they" say is a lie of biblical proportions... especially where Watford are concerned. Not to say we don't get some things go our way, but even? Never.
