aha!, maybe you should learn how to use commas so people don't misunderstand what you're saying, and clarify what WE actually means, ie, WE as in Britain, or WE as in me, you, and others.
Not only were they late, America only entered the war in Europe because Germany declared war on them first
So let me get this right, Germany declares war on America first, so Britain goes into bat on behalf of the USA cos the World series was being played at the time. Churchill tells the likes of Australia we are at War with Germany, but failed to mention it was only temporary untill America decides to join us. Germany, which was moving through Europe at the time declares war on a country nearly 8,000,00 miles away, with lots of water in between.......does that actually make sense? America entered the war because Japan bombed Pearl Harbour, so America declared war on the Japanese Empire. The Japs at the time were fighting alongside Hitler's Army, so declaring war on the Japs brought America into the war. The Germans, in retaliation then declared war on the USA because Japan were allies of Germany.
No you didn't, you said, "Not only were they late, America only entered the war in Europe because Germany declared war on them first" America entered the war after declaring war on Japan, this put them in the war after Japan bombed Pearl Harbour. War against Japan meant war with the Germans, and Italy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan...r_on_the_United_States_and_the_British_Empire America were happy to let Britain fight on alone until Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbour which signalled Japan’s declaration of war on the USA which subsequently led to Germany declaring war on them also The USA were basically dragged into it reluctantly as opposed to the commonly held misconception of them coming to the rescue at the last hour
Not technically. American which up to this point had a international position of isolationism ramped up their war effort during 1940 after the fall of France made it increasingly likely they would go to war and supported the Allies. (There were a number of volunteers from America who fought for Britain, despite at the time it being illegal to fight for a foreign army and they renounced their citizenship so for example there were 11 American pilots fighting in the Battle of Britain) In 1941 despite technically still being neutral they started lend lease - supplying money, munitions and food to Britain, China and Russia and took over occupying Iceland to relieve British troops. 7 Dec 41- Japan attacked Pearl Harbour 8 Dec 41 - USA declared war on Japan. 11 Dec 41 - Germany declared war on USA first (more accurately Hitler declared war on Germany as he did it with very little consultation - and under the treaty they had with Japan they had to fight with Japan if they were attacked by a third party but not it Japan attacked a third party) 11 Dec 41 - USA declared war on Germany
Well worth a watch as indeed is the entire series (essential viewing for appreciating the cost of war in Europe)
Now I have heard it all. A GROUP OF MP's HAVE BEEN TOLD OFF FOR PLAYING FOOTBALL IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. Just shows you what a load of sh-te we have as MP's
Well well do we have another Enemy of the People ? I thought Nigel Farage had sound views, what’s happened here? I think we need a view from the goalkeepers perspective. https://amp.theguardian.com/politic...led-by-tommy-robinson-joining-ukip-as-adviser
Heard an interview with him this morning and thought when even a racist like Farage thinks UKIP have gone too racist you've got to smile...
Well that's very true, unlike Sadiq Khan who keeps sticking his nose into Brexit instead of doing anything about London's knife crime epidemic the ****ing idiot People are being murdered every day on his streets, it's about time he got his priorities right
