And we've been paying for it for a decade, too blind to see that someone had to pay for it at some point, if they'd had the sense to realise that you thin they would have votted for future austerity? People are too stupid to vote selflessly.

The police statistics support your view - both the victims and perpetrators in London are predominantly black. Interestingly though outside London they are predominantly white.
Consequently you have to dig deeper to find that it is generally associated with people living in deprived areas, in poverty, with little hope of improvement. There is no genetic predisposition to knife crime as some seem to imply.
The reduction in police numbers and emphasis has also made the problem worse as have goverment cuts in social programmes in these areas.

<laugh> only you could think of this.

    Shall i say black?

Think most of the racist abuse ive copped is from whites though (was in black area, racist abuse when living/travelling in white areas). Either way it told me not to be a **** and stare at my phone whilst walking without paying attention.

Based on my own experience of working in local govt which included working with PCTs and Community safety etc money isn't the issue.

The problem with public services is the people running them

    This ^

The salient point there is the inference by some of the bobble head racists that there’s somehow a genetic predisposition for a black British lad to carry or use a knife.

The issue of knife crime is multi faceted and whilst there is undoubtedly an issue amongst London inner cities that is predominantly black lads carrying and using knives, it’s not their skin colour that’s defining why this happens.

Yup we did this ages ago on the politics threads. Its linked more to poverty and poor areas than race. Surprise surprise most violent criminals/muggers are likely to be poor rather than rich.

Culture and upbringing plays a part in shaping our morals but theres nothing really inherently about races

Money is the prime issue, it’s not even a debate.

Very true. It's because areas affected have more black people who are involved with gangs. Nothing to do with race, it's just the way it is.

This is why I asked why the tripling of knife crime in majority white areas isn't being reported on

Interesting thing is that police commissioners and police superiors are saying, in those areas, that it's a result if more vigilant policing and targetting certain age groups (so 13-21).

Which poses the question then is that why more black kids in London are found with knives? Because they are the focus?

Interesting stats by the guardian (I believe ) after a freedom of information act shows that percentage searches are not far off percentage arrests in terms of knives. So 1% Chinese and middle eastern knife searches = 1% arrests for that group

Obviously nit that simple but worth considering?

I disagree mate if the argument is they need more money

It simply isn't the lack of money but how that money is used, or wasted is the better word

Now clinical commissioning groups. I was working for an NHS Foundation trust in my last job and I was seconded to work for the mental health clinical commissioning group down here. In my experience money was definitely the problem.

We used to commission some brilliant schemes, surfing for mental health, arts on prescription, green gym etc, but a lot of these schemes were only given money for 6 months and expected to either become charities or social enterprises, so essentially self funding businesses. And a lot of great schemes fell by the wayside as a result.

I think there's a way to do it, and what I pushed for was to fund these groups to take on a business manager, who could help them transform into a bona fide business, rather than a good scheme that always needed financial assistance.

So you keep saying. But I disagree. Fair enough, there is always waste in any large organisation, and there are always opportunities to spend money more efficiently.

    But there is a simple equation that I am old enough to be able to state categorically;

Tory governments = higher crime, worse schools, hospitals deprived of resources, increased homelessness, public services in decline and basic infrastructure run to ****.

Every time. Every ****ing time. And it’s not rocket science.

The sad fact is that if you grow up in a deprived area, and you know that just about every other kid on your estate carries a knife, you’re more than likely to carry one yourself

Also, many of these kids join a gang for self protection.
