Sunderland manager Jack Ross will be concerned at press reports at the weekend linking clubs with his star player Josh Maja, with Bristol Live reporting Bristol City are keen. With so much interest in the player, the Black Cat’s manager Ross know’s he will do well to avoid the 19-year-old forward leaving the Stadium of Light in the January transfer window. He won’t do himself any favours going to Bristol Not much point in him going to a top club unless he is going to get game time However if he wants to move on so be it
I'll laugh at this now, 'cos there's nee way in the world that anybody could consider going to Bristol City as 'a step up' in his career Is there
I'd be surprised if he went there. Better off stopping here, keep banging the goals in and if we go up we'll be on par with Bristol City. If we fail to get promoted he can have his pick of whoever wants him at the end of the season. The only way I can see him leaving for them is if we want the money and we push him.
Ross has made an average group of players into a hard working team who put in maximum effort. If Maja is showing signs of moping around the place I'm sure Ross will 'big him up', start a bidding war and sell him. If the club aren't already lining up a replacement I'd be amazed tbh .... .... what's that Defoe kid up to these days?
I think he has had 15 minutes of game time at Bournemouth this season. Loan him with a 24hr recall. Win win situation
Donald did try to sort something out for Defoe but Howe likes having him around the place to coach the younglings and turned us down.
Not surprised at this but Bristol City ffs. It would be like trying to improve your lot then signing for Newcastle, as you know it'll never work. Stay with the club that's brought you to this point in your career, your getting game time and scoring for fun the grass isn't always greener..
Boro are after him now... Middlesbrough FC are part of a growing contingent of clubs who have been linked with the Sunderland striker of late. Amid rumours that Sunderland striker Josh Maja is dithering on signing a new contract with the Black Cats, Middlesbrough has emerged as a shock potential destination for the 19-year-old. Maja has been in terrific form for Sunderland this season, having already scored 11 goals for the Stadium of Light residents in only 20 games. https://www.oneboro.co.uk/boro-news/boro-linked-with-sunderland-striker-191118
If Josh keeps up his scoring rate, and I think he will, he could easily end the season with 30 goals. Unless really serious money is offered which no club in our position could refuse, or the lads head is turned, (and I personally don't think either will happen), he wont leave in January and certainly not to Bristol City. Our crop of exciting young players are sure to attract attention, but I don't think many clubs could offer the opportunity we can at the moment to any young player showing the right attitude and a modicum of common sense.
No club outside the premier league are bigger than us Josh, come on stick with us and enjoy yourself, £3m is a joke as well. if he went on loan to Man c we would want Debruyne ? as a replacement.
there's Pickford wanted by Man U 60 MILL, I like Josh but if the offer is right with sell on clauses, then Adios hallo Jermain your worth every penny
Sell on clauses are vital if we are forced to sell, we got a good price for both of our Jordans, but Everton have done us again if this deal goes ahead, we need to be a lot sharper in future , easy to say but harder to do. Love Jermain but not sure about him coming back now, its a situation fraught with danger and I would worry about things not working out, more for Jermain, not us in this case.
Donald and Methven said when they arrived that they envisaged running the club along the lines of Borussia Dortmund. That means developing players and then selling them on for profit. I'm sure we will sell Maja at some point but I trust in them to wait until the optimal moment to do it.
Biggest issue with that is that he's out of contract in the summer and will likely go for peanuts. If Bristol City come in with a £2m offer then that'll likely be where the tribunal sets his fee. This is the worry we have in the position we are unfortunately. I actually agree with Monty - there are no bigger clubs than us outside of the Premier league so it's difficult to make a step up - as I mentioned earlier - hasn't done anything for Asoro
